Upper Arm Pain | Arthritis Information

So I haven't had extensive joint involvement.  Just right wrist and left ankle for sure. My right shoulder bothered me a lot recently, right at the shoulder joint.  I think it may be for compensating for my wrist.

But recently my left arm has been hurting right in the middle of the bone, on the outside.  It really feels like my bone hurts.  Any experience with this?

Thanks Yes KatieG,
I compare it to a toothache.  The pain is all the way to the wrist sometimes and feels like the bone hurts deep inside  Don't know if that is what you have but that is how mine feels.  Sometimes my right hip and leg hurt in the same way.  Right now my left arm is achy shoulder to elbow.
The only thing that helps is heat and pain pills.
hi katie i dont know how long you have the arthritis. but you will
find the joints.. bones everything hurts over time..not sure if mtx can
allso give these pains..
wishing you well
Boney....  snowpeak--so that is the RA?  Radiating from the shoulder, or?  My bones in my forearm adjacent to my wrist hurt when my wrist was at its worst, but my wrist hurt as well (and my shoulder and elbow on that side aren't particularly painful.

It is like a toothache--it feels like the pain is radiating from the center of the bone.

Boney--it's only been bad about 6 months now.  Still getting used to everything!  I am sort of freaked out about this only because my first MRI indiciated I might have osteomyletis but I guess the doctors ruled that out and I just need to calm down! :) Because they didn't treat my wrist for that and I haven't died so I guess it's not an infection! :)
hi katie this disease causes a lot of things. and after 13yrs new things
are going on.. nobody can blame a person for getting  worried
i have never heard of  osteomyletis.. learn a new thing everyday..

Boney    It is possible it could be bursitis.  I notice that the older I get the more things are popping up and a lot of them have nothing to do with RA.

We always think it's our RA at first but the truth is it can be a number of things. I would ask the Doctor what he thinks.  My outside bone from my wrist to my elbow often hurts- like I gave it a good bang. My RD brushed me off about it. I didn't know what to think.Wannto, Ask for an xray . Dont let the doctor brush you off.
You are employing him. Not visa versa. I am polite to my doctor but I can insist if I feel I need to.
It could be the pain radiating down, or something else (fibro? bursitis?). If it has been bothering you a lot and they don't have a better explanation ask for an x-ray.  I have a lot of pains that it is hard to tell if they are the joint, fibro, or bursitis. My dr. does an xray if it is persistent and she is not sure, then goes from there. But sometimes it is impossible to tell the cause.thinkthinn- it stopped hurting now. When I had mentioned it to him he was like "This is something new for you?" I said yes and he wrote it down on my chart. I think at that time I then said I don't know if maybe it's from me not using my hands and wrists for so long. I don't remember him commenting on that.I have had that pain before too. I read on here (way back) that it could be your rotator cuff in your shoulder. I rub my shoulder and whole arm with generic athritis creme like icy/hot and put a heating pad on it and try to relax. I also use muscle relaxers and pain meds too. I feel for you, it sure can smart!_popupControl();Yeah, Katie, i get that pain and it is scary. I often feel like I've bruised my bones, or my wrist and hands feel like it is in a vice and nothing can help it, except pain meds. Have you tried putting ice on it?
"The periosteum is the tough sheath of fibrous connective tissue that covers all bones."

Perhaps there is inflammations present in this tissue?
Thanks!  I'm looking into that.  I'm wondering if it's another sign that what I have is really a seronegative spondylartropathy (but at this point I don't think the treatment would be any different).  Involvement of the periosteum is characteristic in AS, apparently.  Still reading. :)
