So what's happening for the mom's on the board Sunday?

My son arrived home from college last night and he is a server so the rest of us will go to the restaurant he works at for dinner so I can be with all the kids.

I usually get breakfast in bed and presents but recently I HAD A BIG MOUTH and pissed my husband off....so we'll see what happens.

We also usually plant all our outside flowers on Mother's Day.
I am SO looking forward to one thing!  I had a peony that bloomed every year on Mother's Day.  I always took my older daughter's picture in front of it.  Then it didn't get enough sun anymore, so I moved it.  And it hasn't bloomed since, for years.  I know it hasn't bloomed since my younger daughter was born.

This year, it has two buds!  They are opening!  I know I will have two beautiful flowers by Sunday!  I'm so happy!

Otherwise, my older daughter says she has something special she has been working on for me, and I am enjoying seeing her excited about whatever it is.  I put in a plug to hubby for a 'watering wand', which shouldn't be too much to ask LOL, and my younger one has been singing "Skittamarink-a-dinky-dink I Love You" to me everyday anyway, so that is plenty!
Ooooh - I'm getting 4 handmade presents and this is the first time I haven't been told the 'secret' of what it (they) are!

And, since it's my DAY, and I can do WHATEVER I WANT - I'm choosing to watch movies, at least two, involved with cuddling and maybe a hot chocolate with marshmallow peeps!  Then I'm going to play games - I'm thinking Chutes and Ladders and maybe some Princess Monopoly!  Somebody is going dooooowwwwnnnn!  I'm going to WIN this time!  And we're also going to play dress up!  I get to be the queen!

Queen Pip!

I love peonies! They smell so good. Don't they have to have ants crawl all over them for them to bloom?
Mother's day is very special when the kids are little- I used to love the home made presents. Somewhere I have a cassette tape (of course have no player anymore) that my daughter had them all sing on etc...Those were the days!
Enjoy!
Pip

Your day sounds fun too! Where will you find the peeps this time of year?
I just heard on the radio that if a Mother got paid the going rate for all the jobs she does and the hours she puts in, she would be paid an average of 0,000 a year! I'll take it!  And 25 years of back-pay, too!  Then I can retire and buy that beach house I've always dreamed of.

Reality check:  All I ever ask on Mother's day is to be taken on a picnic where I don't have cook for it, pack it, drive to it, or clean up after it.  This has been my request for the last 5 years or so....  This year will be the last Mother's Day I have with my son at home, as he will be off to Navy Recruit Training soon.  This will be a bittersweet one, for sure!  The weather looks to be cooperative, and I am looking forward to it.
I'm remembering my maternal greatgrandfather, a businessman in Indiana.  I think of him often.

Hubby and I are leaving tomorrow for our ghost hunting weekend at a haunted Bed and Breakfast that my daughter gave us for Christmas.  I'm loading up on all my ghost busting equipment  and getting ready to have very little sleep, but lots of fun!

We will come home on Sunday (it's a 6 hour drive) and then I'll get to do something with my 3  kids (plus my future SIL whose one of my kids too!).  Not sure what they have planned, but they always come up with great ideas.

Happy Mommy's Day to all of you wonderful Mom's!
We're celebrating Monday night instead.   My oldest (just started his job as a police officer the end of March) has to work 7-7 shift on Sunday, so he'll be ready to get some sleep when he's done.   My youngest (Sr at the HS) has a band concert Monday evening, which we're all going to and then back to our house for dessert.  My daughter-in-law emailed me to pick my favorite dessert and she'll make it, so no work for me.    Even though we're celebrating Monday, I'm sure I'll still find plenty of relaxing and book-reading on Sunday.  Maybe even some flower-planting.
Best wishes to all who are celebrating Mom's day

That sounds like a lot of fun!!

Tomorrow we'll be visiting my husband's mother for a bit, then visiting with my mother on Saturday.  Saturday evening my daughter and her b/f will be coming over for a visit...probably will be going out for dinner.  Sunday will be my day to do whatever I want...probably just relax, read or watch a movie.
Since my son and his wife sold their house in Niagara to move here, they won't be here this weekend, but will be here on the 17th and will be living with us until the closing date of their house...so that means 2 months of sharing our house with them....I love them and enjoy being with them but I dunno...might be a long two months

Kel, we were in a situation like that years ago.  Stayed with my inlaws (who were very gracious) for 3 months.  I think they were as happy to see us go as we were to move onto our own house!!

Happy Mother's day to all you wonderful moms :)
Yeah Linncn, I think that'll be the feeling here for everyone after a week or so....I'm just glad they're moving closer to us.  Now instead of a 2 hour drive, it'll be a 5-10 min drive. That's gonna be great.  You miss them so much when their so far away.  I'm happy for ya.  :)Well, I LOVE crab and don't get it because the restaurants butter it up, this year my husband is cooking giant and I mean GIANT crab legs from Sams Club for me and possibly bacon wrapped shrimp as well.  A nice dinner with the family at home.

We laughed when we saw the crab legs, just the thought of how large that crab had to be was just too funny.

But he will be GREAT to eat!
Yummm Yummm Yummm
Oh !! I have had some of those huge crab legs from Sams . I had to break them up to put in a big pot of boiling water . Mmmmm... they sure are great!!
We are going to see my husbands' great aunt Maxine who is 93 years old . She is such a charm and one of the funniest people I have ever met. They never could have kids so we have always spent part of mothers day with her.
Before her husband passed away (2 years ago) we promised him that she will always have fresh flowers on the table. So every week she gets fresh flowers and of course a huge bouquet for Mothers day.
Well, my hubby and kids already gave me my present last week. It's awsome! They got me a garden pond. I have a flower garden that used to be a hardware store back in the late 1800's - early 1900. It was brick so I have the shell of it and have flowers planted. Some the lady that owned the house before planted some flowers I planted. Hubby is digging in the middle for the pond. Can't wait til it's done! I will post pictures. We are putting up a partial  wooden privacy fence and my swing out there. I may never come back inside until winter.

Mothers Day will find me sitting in snow tussocks in the high country watching and photographing our regions leg of the NZ Car Rally Champs

All the best to all the Mums in the group.  Hope you too get a day off from your usual chores and get to do something that's fun.
My hubby is working so I dunno...
I did ask him when we were walking through WalMart if he was going to get me a card and he said that was kinda difficult to do since we're always together. I told him to tell me he was thinking about getting me a card. And when he said that I said, "it's the thought that counts. Aww... I love you soooooo much."

And then I had to explain the Walgreens/CVS/pharmacy commercial I've seen on tv.  [QUOTE=wanttobeRAfree]

I thought ants just liked them because they smell so good, but that makes sense if they pollinate them somehow.  (I wouldn't  think that is how you spell 'pollinate' but when I spelled it the way I thought, automatic spellchecker underlined it for me.  Also is underlining 'spellchecker' LOL)

LOL-I couldn't remember how to spell it either that's why I wrote "crawl all over them so they can bloom!"

Happy Mother's Day to All!!!!!!!
