Slippers Question | Arthritis Information

I was wondering if anyone else has a problem with their slippers being too loose, and other times they fit just right?

I have a pair of memory foam slippers and well... they have the memory of when my feet were I guess swelled from inflammation. Pass few days my slippers have been falling off of my feet and some times so loose that they trip me and I stumble about, a couple of times almost fell.

But other times they are just right. I guess I need to look into "skinny slippers" for "skinny feet" days. I hate walking around without some thing on my feet. Has to do with germs. I know slippers do not protect from germs, but in my mind it does. I can't stand wearing slippers.  I can't stand shoes in general!  I usually kick off my shoes as soon as I walk out the door at work as long as it's halfway warm out.  At home, I take the garbage out without any shoes or socks, even in the snow in the winter time.  Husband used to tease me when I was pregnant and running around barefoot everywhere. Joonie, get another pair for when your feet are skinny too.My current problem that I have with my slippers is that they are in the garbage covered with cat poop!  My feet are cold, toes blue and numb and I have socks on.  But thanks to one sicko cat....no slippers.  Maybe I'll get some new ones for Mother's Day.Joonie - one of my first strange symptoms that I never guessed would be medical is that I suddenly went from an 8 to 8.5 shoe, for no reason that I knew of.  I think its swelling, or my ligaments let loose, or something.  Now I can only wear flats and something with stitching as my great toes curl up and the rubbing can be agonizing.  I am running out of options as I have to wear professional business dress, and no casual Fridays :(
Joonie - one of my first strange symptoms that I never guessed would be medical is that I suddenly went from an 8 to 8.5 shoe, for no reason that I knew of.  I think its swelling, or my ligaments let loose, or something.  Now I can only wear flats and something with stitching as my great toes curl up and the rubbing can be agonizing.  I am running out of options as I have to wear professional business dress, and no casual Fridays :(
There are toe splints in the podiatry aisle of the drugstore, specifically made to keep toes from curling up.  You might want to give that a try.Wow.  It's crazy all the things you'd never think of that are associated with these diseases.
Are these splints for use at night?  Or can they fit into your shoes (slippers to stay on topic:)  Thanks Jas ~~ Cathy
The ones I've seen are geared towards wearing with shoes (slippers are just fuzzy shoes, right? My feet went up in size as well, so now I have fat and skinny shoes to go with my fat and skinny jeans.  Joonie, I've have problem feet, toes, arches etc.  What I found online are slippers with an adjustable, velcro strap that goes across the front of your foot.  I have mules, slip ons, but they also come in a style that covers most of the foot, except bit of the toe area, with the velcro adjustable strap.  They are washable, come in pastels, I buy them off of shoebuy.com, i think, but they are available on several online shoe sites or arthritis/medical supply type sites.  You might google, velcro, women's slippers, add arthritis or different search times if your first search isn't fruitful.  Good luck, let me know if you can't find them, and I'll try to wrack my brain as to where I've seen 'em.  Take care, and take care of those tootsies.

Thanks for the information, Joie. I will look into it.

My left foot has a fallen arch. And for a long time... my big toe on both feet would wear a hole thru my shoes in a few months. Yeah...

I will get another pair of slippers soon.

My slippers are fitting me good tonight LOL!! Darn Thunder storms!
