That's what my daughter will be next month.  Even the "sweet" part!  The only thing she wants in all the world is her very own Welsh Corgi puppy.  We already have two dogs.  I can feel myself cracking.  Am I crazy to get another puppy?  Please talk me out of it, I'm about to give in to adorableness.Oh, what can I say?  I'm a softie whan it comes to my pets.  I guess I'm a bad one to ask because I have two dogs and have toyed around with the idea of a third.  The only reason I don't get the third dog is because my husband and I travel and it is hard to find a boarding place for them while we are away, but, if we were home more....good luck and if you decide to add the puppy....I get the feeling you would not regret it.  I guess I'm not much help...Hiking_galShe's June 8th, what are you?

Ok girls, I was kinda hoping I'd hear from other animal lovers who wouldn't think I'm crazy.  I'm already on the hook, and this was a very weak attempt at wriggling off.  I'm so excited!  Who doesn't love puppies?  And you should see how cute these baby Corgis are.  If God didn't want us to have one, He wouldn't ahve made them so darn fuzzy and adorable.  :)
hey linncn,  it is cheaper than a car!   and a lot more love in return.   dogs love us better than most humans.  what would a little more love hurt?    best wishes.   tell your daughter Happy, Happy Birthday!!!!   wonderwoman

Hey Linncn,

Sorry I couldn't talk you out of it LOL (yeah, right).  Good Luck with the new puppy

Post a picture!

depends on whether you want to take care of the dog after she goes away to college...cause that dog isn't living in a dormDeidre...she's going to  local college and planning to live at home while she earns her nursing degree.  I said the same thing while I was still going "we aren't having 3 dogs"! :)
Wonderwoman....I have a Golden too.  I tuely consider him to be one of my best friends.  And that says a lot because I have been blessed with some really great friends.Ok, then, Corgi's are so cute, when they show Queen Elizabeth with her's I think, maybe they'd be the next dog we'd get after Cleo, our beagle goes to dog heaven. They look like shedders, Beagle-like hair, just falls off everywhere, which reminds me I forgot to brush Cleo outside this weekend. Offer her undercoat up to the birds for their nests, dang. I bet a Corgi puppy is out of this world adorable, too bad they can't stay puppies.Cardigan or Pembroke?Pembroke.  My son has one and she's a really good dog.  They have such a happy, friendly demmeanor too.  Honestly, a year ago I wouldn't have said yes to a hamster.  She's really matured though and taking on her responsibilities without having to be asked, she gets good grades.  She's really been on top of things.  And believe me, their was a time when I thought that would NEVER happen!! [QUOTE=SnowOwl]

JUST SAY NO!!!

Is she prepared to take the dog to college and beyond?  She can expect to have that dog until she's 30 years old...

Just my two cents. We don't have it yet, haven't even started to research breeders.  I actually only began softening to the idea yesterday.  She's been googling pics.  Devious.

Jas.....the voice of reason finally makes it's presence known.   I might be thanking you for that one day!
Linncn2008-05-12 12:20:33Snow, if I didn't know my daughter was in the other room, if I couldn't hear her talking to her friend, I would wonder what is your REAL identity.  Is she paying you?  :) [QUOTE=Linncn]We don't have it yet, haven't even started to research breeders.  I actually only began softening to the idea yesterday.  She's been googling pics.  Devious. Aw Jas, you party pooper!  I think the fact that she will have that dog for many years is a plus.  Those years from 16 to 30 are some of the toughest years  for a young woman, and having a best friend who loves you no matter what is the best.

My husband and I both had dogs from our youth when we got married, and we became a blended family, LOL!  My husband's dog went to college at Syracuse with him, lived in the frat house, and then literally travelled around the world with him when he worked in Iran, and many places around this country as a consultant for EDS.  She lived until after our second child was born and was his constant companion.  My dog was the same for me, though I got him when I was 21.

I currently have a multi dog household, and love it that way!  They are a little family, a pack, and each one plays a role in the pack, and each one holds a special place in my life.  I say the more the merrier!
Hillhoney2008-05-12 12:40:18since she is maturing this may be a great time to get a puppy.  when we got Isabelle (the golden) my daughter had just finished 8th grade.   she did everything that summer set the alarm for letting the dog out., feeding, cleaning up after her.   it was great!   when high school started with band.  i really missed all her help.  you know it takes goldens awhile to grown up about 2 and half years.   but right now i would not trade a thing and puppies smell so good!!!

Our Golden won't go for walks.  He's afraid to cross our electric fence (have I mentioned he's sort of a big baby?)  Anyway, in order to give him the exercise he needs I take him outside in the yard at night with the flashlight.  he loves to chase the beam until he's all worn out.  We have a joke that "dropping the f bomb" has a whole new meaning around here.  You don't use it unless you mean it!!
