The Happy Hospitalist has been blogging about his acai experience for FOURTEEN WEEKS!  How did we miss it?  Here is a link to the first one, then on the home page scroll down on the right to "My Steamy Monavie Diaries" for each update:

http://thehappyhospitalist.blogspot.com/2007/11/i-had-most-fascinating-conversation-on.html    happy hospital .. i wanna go   I tried this stuff last summer, didn't help me unfortunately.  My father in law jumps on every new thing that comes around and swore by this, but nothing was wrong with him, so i don't know how he knew it worked for him lol.

But, i know it didn't work for my, it may work for others.
is the acai the same thing as monavie?Would someone mind synosising what this guy says about mona vie for me? I'd love to read his blog but I'm INSANELY busy these days.

Of course, never too busy to pop in and lurk several times a day...

ACAI is in it.
Jonathan2008-05-16 22:53:59lorster, the acai "berry" juice is in many products, and the compound is also available in a freeze-dried form.

Here's some info on it on wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acai

Here are some of the other products it's available in (note I do not work for/with any of these companies nor do I endorse or recommend their products):
Bossa Nova juices (http://www.bossausa.com/) (I have tried their juice and I can say it tastes good, but I have not taken it regularly to assess any health benefit)
Sambazon juices, products and supplements (http://www.sambazon.com/)
Advance Physician Formula supplements (http://www.physicianformulas.com/store/Scripts/prodview.asp?idproduct=265)
Perfect Acai (http://www.powersupplements.com/acai/)
There are many others if you Google "acai product".

Edited to remove a link to a site the claims to compare the various sources, upon further reading I've realized they don't really identify themselves and do nothing to promote their "objective" claim, so I am not comfortable including the link.

He is a formerly skeptical believer.  Unapologetic believer.  Take it or leave it, he's just saying....

I read what I posted the link to, plus week 7 and week 14, plus some of the comments.

And while he uses Monavie, most of the research he talks about is on acai, so it seems other products would help in the same way.
They are now putting acai in V8

"You should have had a V8"

:)
I think I also read about it being put into versions of Sobe and Snapple.  Everyone is jumping on the bandwagon.  Unfortunately I don't think we're going to get a lot of objective (meaning independent) information about how much acai is in each product, how concentrated, what parts of the fruit, what the ORAC value is, and what the processing does to it.  It certainly seems to have a lot of potential, but so have other "superfruits".you can buy acai at sam's and some stuff called noni too near the pharmacist.   the drug addictI have been reading on Monavie and it has 19 fruits and of course
we don't know how much acai fruits is in there so why wouldn't a person
just take Sambazon Acai that is 100% acai and is about $ 40 a month?

maimi, from what I have read of the research, they say that a variety of dark-colored fruits is the best way to get a variety of antioxidants, so it could be that Monavie is trying that approach.  I'm not sure the researchers really know yet what's "best".  And while Monavie does include some of those antioxidant fruits (blueberry, pomegranate), it also seems to include others that don't fit that criteria (banana, pear, apricot).  Maybe they're mixing it for taste?

Having a product that is 100% acai might be a better way for the consumer to decide on their own mix, rather than accept what any one product might have.

InnerGlow, Thanks for the info. I think I'll do a bit more research on all the fruits that they put into their product (Monavie) and see which is the best way to go.

I do remember some program I watched a while back and the DR on the show said that the acai berry was the best antioxidant out there.
One thing I remember from the blog - he said how much it cost per bottle and how much he took, and by his estimation he thought it was about what you would pay for a daily med (which seemed kind of general, but I guess most people aren't on the kinds of meds we talk around here....) I think if you go to the site it has some good information.Jonathan2008-05-16 22:54:59
you can buy acai at sam's and some stuff called noni too near the pharmacist.   the drug addict
Drug addict?
I think if you go to the Monavie site it has some good information, aslo there is a site that I have nothing to do with. I am asking if I can post it here or if you would like PM me and I will give it out.  Again I have nothing to do with this site, but it has a lot of facts and explains the benifets of the whole program from the healthy body to the health mind to the healthy wallet if your interested in that.  It turley explains the whole story, it does push the business side more than I care for , but has good information also. But the only thing I would be giving up would be the pain killers, that is if the
monavie does what it should, and the insurance pays for those.
I do remember monavie talking about how they process the acai berry
within 48 hours and I read that the Sambazon Acai is processed in
24 hours and is in a pill form , 2 in the morning and 2 at dinner time.
Does the process time make a difference?

After reading this article, I would buy the Sambazon Acai.
