I have taken three darvocett today and one muscle relaxer.  The pain is still unbearable.  My hips and knees and neck.  I have to take more but I don't know what is safe.  I have vicoden but I have not taken them since years ago after a surgery.  I didn't like them but I am desperate.  CAn I take Vicoden on top of what I have taken.  It has been about 1.5 hours since last darvocett.  I don't want to go back to clinic.  I can't drive.  I want to make it through this weekend.  I am 5'8" @ 155.  I know size counts.   I have the drugs - darvocett, ultram, vicoden, and soma.  I don't know which ones to take and how much.  I HURT SO BAD.  I just am naive about painkillers.  Please give me some advice.

be careful Roxy;  found this:

Do not take more of this medication than is prescribed. If the pain is not being adequately treated, talk to your doctor.
Do not take other over-the-counter and prescription products that contain acetaminophen. Too much acetaminophen could be dangerous. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking any over-the-counter preparations.
Avoid alcohol while taking Darvocet. Alcohol can increase drowsiness and dizziness caused by the medication which could be dangerous. Also, alcohol may increase the risk of liver problems when taking acetaminophen.
Drowsiness or dizziness caused by Darvocet may be increased by other drugs such as antidepressants, alcohol, antihistamines, sedatives (used to treat insomnia), other pain relievers, anxiety medicines, and muscle relaxants. Together, these medicines may cause dangerous sedation, possibly resulting in unconsciousness or death. Tell your doctor about all medicines that you are taking, and do not take any medicine without first talking to your doctor.

Roxy, I am so sorry I can't help you I don't know much about pain pills, the only one I have ever taken was Advil.  I know in Canada we have a 1800 number to call RN's when you need to know something. Does the U.S. offer any programs like that.  If there is, I would call them or maybe the pharmacy..I wish I could help. Maybe someone here can or you can find out about the tele health service.  I'm sorry you are in so much pain, will a warm bath help?  Hope you feel better soon.  Thinking of you.,

Jackie

Jackie,  I would take a bath but my tub is so dirty it grosses me out Haven't been doing much house cleaning lately

Lay down on the floor on your tummy. Let your head go to one side and put your arms alongside your body. You can use a pillow for your head if you like. Now just lay there and let your body relax if you can. Conciously feel yourself sinking into the floor and just breath deep. With each breath feel your body sink a little further into the floor.  Stay there for about 20-30 minutes and see how you feel after that. I hope it works for you or at least gives you relief for 30 minutes anyways..

Not only does this exercise really help me but I was hoping to help you be distracted for at least a half hour so you could see if you really needed the extra pain killer.  You've already took the painkiller but I'm still curious to see if the exercise will work for you.

Hope you feel better soon Rox.

Thanks Jackie.  I will tell you what.  I will try it tomorrow and see if it helps early on in the pain.  It always gets worse as the day goes on.  Maybe I can use it to control the pain.  Happy sinking

At one time the pain in my neck and shoulder was so bad that I had taken 3 vicodin in the course of the day. I was afraid to take more so I went to the ER (It was a Saturday of course) and they told me to either take 2 more vicodins or that they would give me percoset if I wanted it. I took the percoset and none of it hurt me at all. Fortunately I didn't have to do that for long. I hope you feel better soon.

[QUOTE=roxy]Hubby called.  He has been around chronic pain many years because railroad workers get injured all the time.  It is hard work.  He said TAKE THE VICODIN  NOW!  So that is what I did.  I remember it as being a pretty strong drug so I think I will get some relief.  Sorry for being such a pain.  This pain whiddles everything good about you away and just leaves you raw and not very attractive
Vicodin gives me the creepy crawlies...makes me feel like I'm itching inside the head and ears.

Roxy I am so sorry the pain is out of control.Just please be careful, too much pain meds. can slow down your breathing and actually make you stop.Have you thought about going to the hospital for some morphine.

You have been in pain so long. When is that enbrel coming in?

Love,
Sheila

I feel much better after taking the vicoden.  I wish I would have done it earlier.  Gives me the itchies creepy crawlies too Murph but anything to dull the pain.  I needed a break.  Rough day.  Sorry for all the ranting.  One of my worst days.  Hi Roxy,

glad you took the Vicoden. I don't have pain pills
now, but have off and on in the past. To me darvocet
is just a little above advil. Doesn't really take the
edge off...but helps a tad. If I had both types i would
definately take the vicoden. Drink lots of water when
you take pain pills.

about 8 years ago I had surgery on my neck. when I
first came home from the hospital they were having
me take 2 of them every 4 hours for the first few days
and then taper to 1. I have taken 1 1/2 to 2 at various
times without a problem. Make sure you stay ahead
of the pain instead of trying to chase it. That coule be
a losing battle.

glad you're feeling a little beter

Tara
