I don't know what to think .. RE: Enbrel | Arthritis Information

I don't know what is going on... bare with me, this is a little difficult to explain.

I took my first shot and felt great...and had to stop for a eye infection.  Two weeks later I took my second shot and then last week my third.  I felt quite good .. some pain in my worst joints... but I felt more energy .... my outlook was better.. but I can't say if it was the enbrel.  I also started an increased dose of my RLS med so I am sleeping better.

Then today I am not doing so well.  I went to dinner last night w/ two friends and I think I may have overdone it.  But my fingers are shiney and swollen.. my right ankle is so bad that it feels like the bottom of my foot is puffed up too. and my right wrist is really pained.

Tonight is my next enbrel.

Does anyone have a decrease in the good feelings right before a dose?  Like, you know you are ready for it?

I am hopeful that is what's going on and tomorrow I will feel much better.

I'm curious if anyone else has these things happen.

THanks!
babs
Maybe you need the twice a week enbrel.
I am also doing the once a week Enbrel and I find myself
hurting just before the next injection .
I think on my next visit with the doc that I will ask to be
put on twice a week injections, that worked good for me before.

good point, maimi..

I see the RD next friday.  I'll make notes to ask him that.

Thanks!

Anyone else feeling this?

I read someone state that a few days before their Humira injection they start to feel poorly... guess that's the same thing.
I take my enbrel shot on Monday and sometimes by the weekend especially Sunday, I feel worse and my energy is shot. Also during bad weather (rain, snow, sleet, humidity) I still have aches and pains but nothing like before enbrel. Usually Weds, Thurs, Fri are my best days.
Hmmmm......didn't know that you could do shots twice a week. .......Will have to talk to my doc too.
take care
The twice weekly shots are lower doses...25 mg instead of the once a week @ 50mg.
I've been on enbrel for 3 years now, and sometimes I get what I call "breakthrough" RA symptoms when I've overdone things physically, or don't get enough rest.  I've been dealing with RLS lately, too, and have been sleep deprived because of it....and the last couple of days I've noticed more achiness in my fingers, wrists, and feet.  I'm assuming it's because I'm running myself too thin.

Once my son's prom, Baccalaureate services, graduation, and all that goes with the end of high school days has passed, I'm planning on taking about a 3 day nap.  That ought to help.

Back to enbrel...some folks on here seem to have more benefit with the twice weekly than the once weekly.  You might want to try that to see if you can get a longer duration of pain relief that way.   Be sure you're getting enough rest, too.  Sleep is when our bodies heal and rejuvenate!
Thanks Bizzalou!!  That's what I hoped to hear.. that breakthrough happens... but I did over do... I worked all day Wednesday and then went out to dinner w/ friends after meeting at their hotel room... standing there talking...walking --ALOT!   I need to take better care oF ME!!  I always forget that!  especially when I am feeling good..

RLS... see if you can get a script for Requip.. I sleep wonderfully sound with it...  only 1.5 miligrams is all..  And RLS gets worse when we are tired too... like a vicious circle.... you can't sleep cause of RLS... and RLS worsens cause you can't sleep!!

I don't have any pain, but I guess I would describe it like you did; a decrease in the "good" feeling.  I wouldn't even classify it as a discomfort and it doesn't interfere with my daily activities.  I always think, "Thank goodness it's Enbrel shot day or I just might have a flare coming on."

I'm really glad I tried Enbrel.  It's awesome stuff for me.

exactly!!  It feels like a flare could be coming..

I keep hoping that I will be able to stay on this.. because I'm fearful that if I have to stop it.. I'm going to be really really bad......  I'll need to get better at tracking how I feel - I'll bet that more often than not, it's the day or so before I'm ready for my shot.   [QUOTE=babs10]Thanks Bizzalou!!  That's what I hoped to hear.. that breakthrough happens... but I did over do... I'll ask my doc about it.  I'm guessing that I'm having a vitamin deficiency of some sort (probably iron, since I've cut out red meat lately).  I've been counting calories and fat since January and have lost 35 lbs.  I don't want to stop the weightloss, so maybe adding a multivitamin will help.  RLS is awful!
Yep... when I was on Humira... the every 2 weeks was for crap! I done good maybe the first 4-5 days and then I was back where I started the next 9 days until shot day. But then my at the time RD moved it to every week so I had 2-3 days of increased symptoms.

I hope you can get yours straightened out to where it lasts longer for you.
