sjodrens and AP | Arthritis Information

does anyone know if you can treat sjodrens with AP too? I have dry mouth, eyes and skin problems that border on sjogrens and can say as a lay person when I have had to take AP for anything, the dryness gets worse...check with your doctor as some medications would make it even more of a problem.

Hey Cdndream -

A lot of APer's with Sjogrens on the Roadback.  What LuAnn refers to could be a herx if the timing is short.

LuAnn, you did AP for 6 months, in the beginning, right?

Anyway, I saw a post here recently on stem cells and am trying to find it and bump it to the top - I thought of you but didn't post as I've been swamped with end of the school year stuff.  Why do they shove it all into 1 month, anyway?

Pip,
You are too funny.  Yes I was on AP after stem cell and no I did not have a herx.  I was in a constant state of dryness and then my skin was always peeling.  I insisted on going off the AP and the extreme skin peeling stopped. I have residual problems of dry mouth, eyes etc that thyroid attributed to condition. Again,as I said in previous post AP attributed to dry mouth, eyes and skin.

You did AP after the stem cell transplant?   I did not know that.  I'd always thought it was earlier in the disease.  How long were you on AP then, if you don't mind my asking?

Also, I can't find that stem cell question.  Maybe it was the one about Cordy.  I'll keep looking.

Are we dancing today? LOL  I Did not do AP therapy after stem cell.  Since my entire system had been wiped clean I was required to take AB, anti-fungal & anti-viral until my system had recovered enough to fight infections on it's own.  The entire time I was on these medications, I hated it.  I had dry mouth, dry eyes, peeling skin as if I had sunburn, fuzzy tongue, Elevated liver, etc.  As I discontinued use of these drugs, conditions improved. And before you even ask, YES I did Probotics while in hospital and after stay.

Flashback to 1990's when I tried AP for close to 9 months with NO improvement  for MY RA, while damage raged on and again YES I knew about taking my friendly bacteria.
While I am happy AP works for some, IT DID NOT work for me.

I hope that clears things up for you.

Hugs to you,

LuAnn
