OT: About My Daughter | Arthritis Information

Share

My daughter brought home a letter today. Looks like next school year she will be enrolled in the Gifted Class aka smart kids class.

Yep... she has been bummed all year because the kids in her class have been calling her stupid and dummy. I kept telling her they were calling her those names, because they were not as smart as her. And believe me I have seen some of the paper grades for a coupleof the kids that call her those names and they were D's & F's. Not saying my daughter did not get a couple of D's & F's on a paper, but her average is ALL A's. Except that one B because of the mishap with the reading log not being signed.

She said something today about one of them kids bothering her. I just looked at her and said "I bet you are the ONLY one in your class who got one of these letters! Which this letter means you are VERY SMART!" *nods head*

So... maybe next year her self-esteem will be a little higher and she will see that she is NOT stupid, just a little goofy sometimes.
Excellent, Joonie!! You must be very proud  :)Whoa!  You and your daughter should be so proud!!!  Yep... I am VERY proud of her!

I was wondering if I was ever going to hear back about if she was eligable for the gifted class or not. I just figured we missed the deadline to return the letter that was over 2 weeks late of daughter giving it to me. She "forgot" about it. <--- that is a time of her goofiness.
LOL! Thats great! I was in a similar program! It was great! not to mention if she keeps it up she can go to college totally free! (I did!).way to go joonies  daughter..   Congrats to your daughter!!!!

I had 2 out of 3 in gifted programs, and today they both have a genius IQ's.

Go Joonie"s daughter!
Great news! Kids can be so mean to each other. Especially as they get older. There is a huge attitude difference between my AP classes and regular classes. Not so much in intelligence level, but in the work ethic and attidue towards earning good grades. What really kills me is that I have some awesome kids in regular science. I have seen them drop throughout the year. I managed to convince most of their parents to let them try AP next year. If they have issues, they can move back to regular. They just need a more positive atmosphere.

You tell you daughter to be proud of herself. These same kids that are messing with her now could be her employees later :)
