I didn't watch all 2 hours, but I did watch the ending, and boy was I surprised!!
me too!!  I thought for sure it would the other David!!! I was surprised and very happy.I'm so glad you started this thread.  I've been wanting to ask those of you who watched it all the way through to explain this to me.  I only watched Tue. night and then last night.  I was blown away by David A. and thought for sure he would win.  What a voice!!! I even looked up the YouTube video of "Don't Let the Sun Come Down on Me" because I wanted to hear it again.  True, David Cook was very good, but to me, his voice just wasn't as pure and professional.  When he won, I was soooo surprised!  What did I miss?  The only thing I can come up with is, watching the two Davids on Tues. night, after just that one show, I was starting to get annoyed by David A's puppy dog, sniffly, "I'm so overwhelmed" look.  The first two times, OK, but by the end, I was starting to get annoyed and was wondering if he was being coached to act this way by his overbearing dad.  It was starting to seem less than an honest emotion and David Cook did not do that.  There was a bit of teariness, which is understandable, but he kept it in check and didn't milk it.  Am I just an old cynic or do you think this had something to do with the outcome?  I heard on Fox this morning that near the end of the contest there was a gradual movement to David Cook and since he won by 12 million votes, I'd say that was quite a movement.  Finally, I read online yesterday morning that David A's coach said the fix was in a while ago and that David Cook would win.  Hmmmm. I would hate to think this whole show is a farce.  I think David Cook's style is more his own. He's unique. I liked him best after Michael John's got kicked off (Shocker!) I'll admit David A was a really good voice, but the other David was still my favorite. Maybe it's because his style of music suits me best, I'm not sure.

I'm sure the other David has a career in music ahead of him provided his father doesn't screw things up for him. From what I understand he's really difficult to deal with.
David A has lots of talent, but--unless he is singing--he just freezes like a deer in headlights when he is in front of people.  He had trouble putting together coherent answers to basic questions--always very nervous.  If he had been 25, this probably would have knocked him out from the get-go.  But everyone thinks "aw he's cute, he's just 17" and he does have AMAZING talent.  I just don't think he's ready to be a STAR.  He just needs more life experience.  Some 17 year olds are "old souls" or seem really grown up, but he is not one of them! KatieG2008-05-22 07:18:09Perhaps the judges' premature pronouncement on Tuesday night that little David was the winner, may have triggered a voter's reaction in favor of big David.  Plus, little David's speechlessness and shyness, didn't help, though he is as cute as a bug, a talented, silver-voiced bug.  Those stories about little David's pushy, stage Dad probably hurt him a bit too.   Maybe its better he lost, less pressure to deal with at his tender age.   Anyways, it was a great finale, always a pleasant surprise to see the underdog win.  david cook was just the overall better performer where david archueleta may have had a better voice all he performed consistantly well were power ballads.  He forgot the words to his songs several times and as was pointed out couldn't put together a coherant sentence.  he would have never handled the media tour that the Idol has to do.  Give david a.  a few more years (away from dear old dad) of life experience and some self confidence in himself that isn't related to his singing and he will do much betterYes, I'm starting to get the picture.  It makes me feel better that David Cook won.  David A. is so young and has years of success ahead of him.  If he's as shy as you say, it's no doubt a good thing that he's not in the No. 1 spot just yet.  He needs seasoning and time to grow.  I voted for David Cook through the entire process.  I was so happy to see him win!I wasn't surprised at all.  I have loved David Cook all along, haven't been a fan of David A's...although I will say his Tuesday night performances have been his best and were very good.  According to DialIdol (www.dialidol.com), which I use, David Cook has been in the number one spot for quite a few weeks now, and easily predicted the win for him.

I am glad Simon apologized to him.  No matter who wins, I don't think the judges should have come out so strongly for one contestant...give your constructive criticism and move on.  A lot of people didn't like the way that the producers seemed to be shoving David A down our throats.  And I feel bad for him, because I think he is talented, but not ready for this.
I actually voted for the first time and voted each time for David Cook.  I think he's a very good stylist and singer.  David A. didn't have the range or experience that's needed but boy he's a competitive little bugger, maybe his dad's influence.  He'll still be a star as will several others from this year's group.  Lindy Even though they were rivals, they seemed to be genuinely respectful and thoughtful of each other, its good to see nice guys be the final two.  DAvid COOK just ROCKS!!!!!!!~

 the thing about this show, is you really can't just watch the ending, its about the progression.. its not just about the last show and who should you win , from that one show, but overall.
(thats not meant as a put down, i just mean, it'd be cool to go rent the Dvd when it comes out... and see how it got to this point :) )

See, David Cook is a true artist!!! He doesn't just
"sing" the songs, he mixes w/ them, changes them, works w/ the vocals.. does it differently ,styles it to his own voice.. He plays the guitar. He can really sing, a huge variety of songs!

David A, ... just didn't do anything for me, yes he's a good singer.. did you guys know they had to have telepromters , during the show, just to make sure he wouldn't mangle/ miss the words?
he's a nice "kid"... when i hear a kid singing romantic ballads and knowin they've never been laid, well
Lol. (sorry if thats crude, LOL). but really isn't that true.... they just can't quite pull it off..
He's a sweet kid, w/ a good career in front of him and some growing up to do.. and thats ok.
Personally, i just felt like it was the same voice, great,but nothing really different..
~~~~~~~~
 David Cook... took chances.. and by the way..
personally, I think Simon , is a bit of genius, and he and Randy shared this look,.. you know all the praise heaped on David A... could actually have helped Cook win...bc the boomers, were out in full power!!!
  Whats unreal to me is that 97 MILLION PEOPLE VOTED, isn't that unreal??
 Cook won by 12 Millon votes..!!
Also, i really think he's a nice guy, confident, decent and he's worked hard. I think he's much more complex then Archie and he's going to have a Fab career..
he's steady, a thinker and doer and Focused..
DAVID COOK ROCKS!!!
