I had my first infusion of Remicade on Monday. (Thanks for all the input) I feel no improvement at all.

Does this take more than one infusion to start working? The infusion nurse said I would feel so much better. That this medication has given people their lifes back. I did have a reaction to it and it had to be stopped. The gave me Solumedrol thru the IV, 1000mg Tylenol, and Claratin. They started it back up after the saline drip was done.
I sure hope the next one on June 2nd works!! Have any of you on Remicade needed the 2nd infusion to feel better?
sweetie, don't  give up.. i had Rituxan infusions..  they normally take 4 hrs... mine took 8!!! lol
it was after the 2nd one... that i started to feel a tad better.. i don't know about remicade, but isn't one, of those that can take awhile.. months, to kinda kick in?
try to keep your hopes up, wishing you well~
Hello!

I started Remicade back in December '07. I am just now starting to see a much better improvement after this last infusion. This is my 2nd infusion after the loading doses. I did see some improvement with the loading doses, but they did not last long maybe a week tops. The more I got the infusions the longer the improvements lasted, but they would only last an extra week or so. Which is not a good thing when your infusions are 8 weeks apart... that means the other month, after a month of improvement, I am starting to revert back to where I started. BUT... this last infusion has really helped me. The infusion before it done ok, but nothing near what this recent infusion has done for me.

Oh and after the last loading dose and first infusion after loading doses... I would start to see even more improvement about a week or two after I got the infusion, but that would only last for about 3 weeks tops.

I hope you will get to see improvements soon. It takes time for meds to work.

Hang in there.. give it some time.. I had immediate improvement after one enbrel shot.. but had to go off it for two weeks.. then the next time it took longer to make me feel better.. now, after shot four of the start up again, I am feeling pretty good...

so, my best to you, give it time... keep us posted..
i had my second infusion last friday. I saw  some improvement. Had a good weekend and felt pretty good until today. My advice would be dont give up, my doc said it can take 2-3 infusions before you see some improvement. Thank You everyone. The infusion nurse made it seem like it would be right away. I hope it keeps working for everyone! I will keep you posted...Yeah... my RD's Remicade nurse made it sound like that too, because it does happen for some people. I mean... I respond well to most meds... like Humira I was much better and seen an improvement the next day after my first injection. But with the Remicade... I saw improvement the next day with my stiffness, and some swelling down, but as for the other symptoms... they did not get better until this recent infusion.

Keep us posted on how it goes!
