My RA visit went well, it was good to see my long time Dr. and hear the news that I am supposedly in remission, will know more when blood work gets back. HE is a true dear, I owe him much for all he has done. Hats off to him.

Stopped in the kids' peds office to drop off pics of my daughter and her fiance', all new people, no familiar faces at all.

THen off to Leah's, my past boss at BSU and dear sweet friend that has always been there beside me through the best and worst times of my life. She is rather ill will the neuropathy and it was hard to see that she had declined in health so much, but, then again, so has my health. It was great to laugh and joke and remember the good ol' days....the girltalk......the giggles.... We had so much fun, I think we both needed that for sure. I cried about half the way back home which is typical for me.....lol....I am such a softy. It was good to be in Michigan again and my RD reminded me during my visit how beautiful Michigan is, I needed the reminder, I truly did.

It was difficult not to drive towards "home" to see the dog. It was heartwrenching not  to visit where I had helped build a home, where my life had begun again, where my daughter and I found happiness.

Soooooo for now, it is back to blood work, wait for results, get to a cardiologist and begin a new journey. Hopefully all the tests will reveal that I get a break from RA so I can concentrate on the heart disease and get that under control..........plus.......got that new grandbaby  expected soon

Hope everyone is having as much of a painfree day as possible, we all deserve it.

Terrific news, Jode!that IS great news about RA..

sorry for the melancholy..  wow!!! Amazing for you!!! I am so happy for you!

At least a break from the RA! Hope the heart issues prove to be managable.

Best of luck!

Yep! THank you...thankyou.....yes, what a visit huh? What great news. Even my PCP here was thrilled, he was right......he said this months ago.

It happens, it truly happens. For so many years I thought that RA would never end. Let's see, I believe that was  17 1/2 years  of RA, . That was my childrens' lifetime, not to mention the dx's that  never occurred as a young child.

RD said that it is possible and that it may not come back, that it runs its course and you are left with just the damage, I guess something like a tornado. IT would be rare if it was the cause of the heart thing but then again, cystic RA is very rare.

As mentioned, do not dwell in the past, everything does change, life goes on.

hi jode i have read about .. burnt out ra . were the ra has a mass attack on
the joints and simply burns its self out.  or burns out after many years and as
you say leaves behind the joint damage.. i wonderd if you do have burnt out ra.
has your doc kept you on meds..

Boney
Jode YAY!!      that you are in the "remission".  What a great word, and a great state to be in.  I had that news myself a few months ago (after a great summer), and still feeling on top of the world.  I've taken up a new career (Real Estate) after not being able to work for almost two years.  A new lease of life, and although I am still on the meds, who cares!!!  I never thought I would ever feel this way again. You're right, it happens - it truly does!!

So, you go girl, and I hope that your heart issues prove to be manageable for you.  Grandchildren rock!!   I have three now, and they are the delight of my life!!
Yep Boney, that is exactly what he said it was, the burnt out RA.......amazing isn;t it? I never heard of that. With all the info around here and on the web, never heard of it, but so glad for it!

I am on no RA specific meds, just vicodin for the pain and sometimes the alieve.......other than that I take a baby asprin  for now for the heart thingy till I see a cardio and the xanax and Celexa....ummm the estrogen patch....vitamins.......a glass of wine  once in awhile..........eeewww...this reminds me, I need to get prescriptions filled!
Congratulations Jode, you are very, very lucky.  Take care ~~ Cathyhi jode i  am pleased to see this .. there is not a lot of info to be found on
the web about burnt out ra.. i thought at  one stage i had this because
inflamation was so minor but that is not burnt out disease.. rather smouldering
away. have read they have no idea why in some
people the ra burns out..  . iam sooo pleased for you  Boney, I contribute it to a total emotional neural blast. When your life is so totally screwed up and your nerves are all ignited at the same time where you feel as though your head will just completely explode off your shoulders and you are so devestated that your body just shuts down like a computer when it locks up and crashes, then boom.....you implode.  I think that is what causes it! lol.....for real.

Have teenagers and live with family..........I think that is the cure!!!!!!!! Medical science has it all wrong!lol

THe problem with this theory is, not too many people with RA are willing to raise teenagers and live with immediate family,,,,,,,,,maybe that is why there is not much research on it Thanks so much again.......I wished I knew more about the burnt out RA.......truly. Keep in mind I have been battling this all my life.dx in 1991 after  of the 5 surgeries on my hands from the synovial cysts and all the damage, after every med, every new med until Enbrel was relaeased.....even including Minocin.

It was  not a great journey, but I met some wonderful people and made some great friends and actually gained a college degree in part because of RA....my life changed because of the RA........the experiences was awful for the most part but I had so many people that were supportive. It did a great deal of damage to my body. My children suffered through their entire life because of it.......but turned into wonderful adults........(would be nice to hear more from my son...)

RA and all it brings...... sucks actually, lol     But all of us already know that.

RA  is probably what has caused this heart thing........but ya know what? ........ that is just the way it happened.THat was the life I had to deal with. Knowledge is power so they say......so I keep learning new and more stuff....maybe even get a job,or maybe now I will qualify here for ssi, maybe I will find Mr. Wonderful......where is he hiding anyway? lol
hi jode i like your theory.  from what i read about burnt out disease
it is not so commonly seen nowadays as the diease is kept more controlled
and the most people whith burnt out disease had suffered severe joint damage
which leads one to think no joints left to attack. but this may not be the case
as in late stage ra whith no burn out. other things can develop vasculitis neuropathies
heart lung problems..etc  i would like to have seen your post titled... burnt out ra
as this is very interesting and may go un noticed..And is well worth shouting about.

Boney

That is GREAT news, Jode. I hope it stays away for you until you get your heart problems fixed. I'm really happy for you..  I guess thats encouraging, that this stuff can actually leave..
I always believe there are reasons, for everything and hey, if
you deal w/ RA, the heart stuff... piece of cake
(not making light of it, trying to be positive)
