We are staying at home and watch movies for three days as it is predicted to rain and flood here. Not much in the mood for camping in that kind of weather. I hope everyone has a great, fun filled, pain free weekend planned.Staying home too- weather here should be sunny, 70's and maybe 80 Monday- Hurray!

Hope to just lounge around and eat bbq type foods- kick off summer!
Tonight there is an Art Walk in town, where the art galleries stay open late, serve wine and cheese and patrons walk through the town and look at the various art displays.  I'd like to do that tonight, but we'll see.  (But no wine for me!)

There will be a parade in town for the veterans tomorrow morning, then a White Squirrel Festival all day Sat. and Sun.  I'd like to do that too. We have white squirrels around here and the town fathers like to use them as an excuse for any kind of party they can come up with.  Can you tell I live in a tourist area?
We rented a dumpster to do some clean up of barn and yard, so part of the weekend will be devoted to work, I'm afraid.  We are invited to a cookout on Sunday afternoon (don't really want to go, but it's one of those situations where we will have to go and put in an appearance for family peace - future SIL's grandparents).  We may go to a demolition derby Sunday evening, and then there's the 3 Memorial Day Parades my youngest is marching in with the high school band.  He's a senior, so these are the last parades we will be attending as band parents - kind of bittersweet.

Oh, and our Netflix DVD of Enchanted arrived yesterday, so we'll fit that in too!

Have a wonderful, fun-filled and safe weekend everyone!
We're heading to the cabin as soon as my husband can cut out of work  - hoping the sun comes out a little and the fish are biting.   Hope everyone has a wonderful, safe,pain-free weekend.

I am going to avoid the outdoors as much as possible. Probably go to in-laws. And then have to put up with EVERYONE being home on Monday.... going to be a lot of rat-finking, screaming, yelling, and hitting going on... of course, not by me but my kids will be at each other the WHOLE time!Spring cleaning and cat napping i am going out late tonight...SSSShhhhhhhhhh  Having Ally's birthday party tomorrow.. Picnic at the playground...Pizza, chips, Koolaid, and cheesecake (her request.)

shes 6  and getting a hamster for her birthday.

We just can't afford   the kind of party a lot of kids have. I figure  the playground will give them plenty to do..So far weve gotten 7 RSVPs  and know there will be at least 6 kids there..  I really wish people would let you know if they are going to come.. I have enough for goodie bags for everyone, but havent  filled them all, since I have no idea how many are coming..

arrrrrghhh

What do you mean? What kind of parties to kids have? Your party sounds wonderful. hi Kathy i wanna Goody Bag..    Boney2008-05-23 15:12:50

Well we are having my parents and four brothers over. My hubby is so excited, there is twenty years between me and the youngest child, so we have some babies coming over, we wants to play with them so bad. we went out yesterday and bought some toys, he was so excited that on the way home he had to open them up and play with them. I turned to him and asked him how old he was, and he gave me this pathetic smile and said 29!

kathy- I know what kind of parties you are talking about but I think kids have more fun at the kind you are having- so don't give it a thought. I'm glad my kids are grown but I can remember getting frustrated trying to think up a good theme.

I also remember having trouble with people RSVP ing too. I don't know if it's a cultural thing- we have a very diverse community or all people have bad etiquette today.

Those goody bags can cost a fortune and it would be really helpful to know in advance how much to buy!
The parties my kids enjoyed the most were the ones when I woudl let them invite whoever, place bowls of junk food around with plenty of juice, cokes or koolaid, pop a few frozen pizza's in the oven and turn on the hose outside.

Once they had drenched eachother and ate popscicles and freezy pops till they were all colorful and sticky, we would have movie marathons. You couldn't walk in the living room due to blankets, pillows and popcorn bags. And of course, between movies there was always music and dancing.  When my son had a party, he did the same with his friends only without the dancing.

(SInce I was a single mom and had RA through most of this, I always had my sitter come for the parties for my daughter and  spend the night and she could bring a friend.....Sarah was my  lifesaver believe it or not through all that).

Have a wonderful time! Thanks for sharing, you dusted off a few good ol' memories for me.
Oh yeah....the question....I will be on standby for  my very pregnant daughter and hopefully complete the nursery, maybe get a few things done around the house, or even go to the pool.

WE might go see the new baby, a coworker of hers had her baby at 12:04 A/M the 21st. A boy! Ahhhhhhh he is so darling!
Staying home and cooking out. Go to cemetery and put some flowers on my dad's grave and maybe go to a veteran memorial service if I can get up early to make it and feel well.
Plan on going to the site of the homestead.  It burned in the 70's but the tulips, iris, lilacs all still bloom in the yard. We'll pick some of the flowers and go to the small cemetary to put flowers on Stan's mom and dad's grave.  Also, want to go to a verteran memorial service in town.  I'm volunteering at the senior center for Sat. breakfast and other than that we're sticking around town, cooking, may watch a movie or two, read, and just relax.  Tuesday the week long Blue Grass festival starts and we have front row seats.   This is small town America and I love it.  Stan married a city girl but my heart is in the boonies.  LindyKathy, i like the sound of your party, my kids used to love parties like that. Have fun!! Im home alone
