My dear neighbor's hubby has been ill with IBS, vertigo and high BP and a variety of other ailments for months. HE has lost over 30 pounds. THey switched Dr.'s and are awaiting his neurologist appt. HE had another CT scan this past week. They found a mass on his adrenal gland.

She stopped over yesterday with some stuff I had lent her and with the girls ( her daughter and the day care girls) and we were all playing and giggling outside when she got a call from the Dr. office that her hubby needed an emergency MRI.

Needless to say we were both near tears ( I am very close to this family and my neighbor is my best friend here, we are very much alike and her kids call me "MS Jode" and include me in all their family drawings........is that sweet or what?).

We need some good vibes sent this way and if you pray, that would be appreciated as well. THey are a young couple and she works 2 jobs and he is a chemical engineer. THeir son is a first grader and daughter begins k next Fall.

I also want to comment and perhaps this should be another post. THeir seems to be dx's of tumors and heart probs in our neighborhood, most of our neighbors are ill with something.

We live near Phizer (sp) the drug company. It is within maybe 10 miles of here. When they clean the vats each week it is a horrible smell and I was wondering if anyone knows of any research of the environmental effects medically of those individuals living near a huge drug company.

jodejjr2008-05-24 08:03:36Whenever you live around a manufacturing/production company you run the risks of environmental exposure to toxics. Do some research, local paper, online and talk to other people. Usually the newspaper is the best place to start. The politicians in the area won't be much help because of the tax revenue the company brings into the county, so they'll stay as far away from the issue as possible. Complain about the smell to the newspaper, the county commis., mayor, even the governor. See what kind of response you get. Lindy There are attorneys who specialize in environmental class action cases. You might investigate.

It may not be as bad as it seems..

I have an adrenal adenoma... (mass not cancer) It is the most common type of mass found on the adrenals.. I've had my hormones tested and it is not affecting the behaviors of any of them..it is on the outside of my adrenals and also on my kidneys.. they haven't grown in five years..

I send your friend and his family the best.. I hope this is his DX too..

hi jode posotive thoughts coming there way Thank you all so much, I certainly hope all is ok. He goes Monday for his MRI, and they will eb able to see more of what is going on. When I went over there today ( they had a cookout and invited me), you could tell he was nervous about it and stated that once they cut the tumor out all would be fine.

I just told him he was lucky to get scheduled quickly and the sooner they get the pic, the sooner they can dx. I also offered any help they may need.

Thanks again. And yes, he is a chemical engineer and they always is the first question, maybe being around all those chemicals is causing some harm.

Let me tell you, the drug company pays moocho bucks in taxes around here. I heard that it was cheaper for them to hire a demolation crew to take down a huge building they built not too long ago than it was to pay the taxes on it every year. I am talking millions of dollars here. And this came form a person who works there.

I was just curious if anyone had ever heard of a drug company and any causal agents for illness in the community.

Yes, you are a good friend and neighbor. I will pray for everything to come out alright; I wish I had good neighbors. I have some cows (real cows) for neighbors on one side and cornfields on the other. THere is a lady who lives down aways but she is a hermit and I never see her but she is friendly and I always speak to her when I do see her.

WHen I get all my dx in order and they figure out what is wrong with "mebodee"......I will be more inclined to find out if so many of these illnesses are caused from environmental. I never thought of that when I moved here, although I moved here just cause my sis lives here as she helps with mother and at the time I had nowhere to go.

My neighbor is quite ill and frightened which is to be expected. I offer what help I can, they both have been there for me and I adore their kids.

I used to have cows for neighbors! lol When they would get through the fence they would always go for my car and actually got up on our front porch one time....I freaked! lololol They are the DUMBEST animals!

And yes, the baby will be here soon....poor daughter is miserable and is ready for this child to be born!

They are gone now having the MRI.......depends when they get back tonight if I they tell me if anything was mentioned. It may be a few days or so before they get the results.

It is not harmful and the dr's won't do anything about it unless it messes w/ your hormones or grows... I've had mine for more than 5 years.. I go yearly for a Cat scan and there has never been any growth. nor has it messed w/ my hormones..

It's not a concern unless it is cancerous... and mine is not.. and they can tell by the MRI what kind of mass it is..
