Pathetic... Arthritis Pill Caps | Arthritis Information

It's sad when your RA is so bad that you have to fight with the darn prednisone arthritis pill cap to get it off. lol :)hmmmm

Yeah... I hate that. I cannot open my med bottles even when I am doing good. It is from my hands and wrists. It totally sucks when you have to depend on hubby to open your meds for you. But ... I kinda have a solution... the pharmacy put my darvocet in a bottle with a pop-top and I was putting some of my meds I needed thru the day in it, worked great, used my teeth to pop the top. BUT then I got scared that son would get ahold of it and open it, so I stopped using it. He likes to take medicine and he is sneaky. He knows where I keep my meds.

Try to see if you can get some pop-top lids put on your meds bubbagump.
Just the other day I had one of the child proof cap levers crack on my amitryptaline bottle. Couldn't open the bottle at all. Made me mad as a hornet! Grabbed some pliers to lift the lid up so it would no longer catch. I'm the only real child in the house anyway--a tall five I often think that most kids would get the bottles open faster than we ever could manage  lol!  lorrie2008-11-23 23:38:14That reminds me, my husband told me that when he was little, his mom had (forgive my spelling if it is wrong, C student lol) but she had carpol tunnel and had him open all the child proof bottles lol.  But I have noticed as of lately son has been really interested in my meds. I keep telling him they are not for him and that they will hurt him and make him go bye bye like Peter. Then he says poor peter, he's dead. I say yep and you might be too, if you take my medicine, it is BAD! But I do not know if he understands what I am saying or not.

Welp, I am off to sleep. It is 5:00am.
The caps have been a real problem for me.  When I cold get refills at the local pharm. I requested the non-childproof caps.  I would have to check before I left--when I would get home and open the bag, sure enough--I would have the childproof cap--which I have a hard time with.  I have made then change the cap when I was at the store.  Now I have to go through Medco.  They all come with an identical bottle and childproof caps. I have asked for reg cap and they sent me 3.  So what I have to do is remove the childproof caps and put on the ones they sent.  Seems like they could just put the proper cap on it for me.

Another problem--is some cleaning solutions comes with that puch down and turn cap!  I  have to take a box cutter and cut the top of the bottle off.  They should be outlawed!

I used to leave my caps loose on the bottles then when I go to reach for them my clumsy hands knock the bottle over and they all spill out and shoot all over the place,

I guess they have to put the childproof caps on since young people with little children get RA but it seems so stupid that they put these unmanagable caps on arthritis medicines!

I too have trouble with the cleaning product safety lids. Sometimes I can't run the dishwasher because no one is around to open the bottle for me.

Problem is I have no children in my house.  I also have no one to help me open the bottles.  My only alternative is to take the item back to the pharm or store and ask them to open it for me.  Time... gas.... frustration...  With Medco--it is comes through the mail.  It does present a problem.  I get my meds from WalGreen's and my caps are reversible. Screw on and childproof. Get some small glass or plastic widemouth jars with screwtop lids.  When you get your scripts in the mail, have someone open them up for you and dump them into the (properly labeled!) jars.

I keep my meds in non-childproof jars within my locking toolbox, because I occasionally have difficulty with the safety caps.  I also use scissors to cut open items that come in a blister pack, as I never seem to have enough finger nail to bust those small blisterpaks open!

JasmineRain2008-05-25 18:33:22 If you want me to save some bottles for you, PM me. I can ship them to you after I scrape off my label and wash them. Then just write your script on them, or if you get two  sticky papers with the info on it like I do, just put the other label on this bottle.

Sounds a bit strange to offer my pill bottles, GrammaKathy2008-05-25 22:21:52 [QUOTE=Catnip2]The caps have been a real problem for me.  When I cold get refills at the local pharm.
