So...I am scheduled to have my ilipsoas tendon/muscle cut in half at
Mayo Clinic on Nov. 23 to stop it from rubbing on my too-big-hip
replacement cup. Has anyone had this done??? Mayo seems to be the only
one who has done this surgery, and I am quite leery as it is the major
tendon that lifts your leg that he is cutting. He says I'll be fine and
the other smaller tendons will compensate for it...but...I'm still
nervous. Would LOVE to hear from anyone else who has had this or
anything similiar done!
Thanks!!!

I had a tensor fascia lata tendon release about 25 yrs ago at the Lahey Clinic. It relieved a "snapping hip" problem. I think it's close to what you are talking about. I had excellent results with it. Not only did it stop my leg from locking up but it relieved a lot of the back pain that I had.
Good luck
From what I've read, that is pretty similiar. so you didn't have any bad side effects such as not being able to move your leg or anything??
