Joy - thinking of you! | Arthritis Information
So, my hubby loaded my IPod with more old school funk (these guys don't appreciate my taste in music - maybe you do LOL)
So, when I got to this I thought of you!
Change one word in line 3 - remove 'color' and change it to 'health' and I think we have our anthem.
Hugs,
Pip
Pip,
Yup, I do share your taste in music. I like funk -- went to a Prince concert once -- and as someone who can't move too well, gotta be awed by Janet Jackson's dance moves.
I never can make out lyrics though, did hear the phrase "We got to work together" so I'm guessin' Jackson's Rhythm Nation has a social message to it, working toward positive change for our nation.
Every social movement has had its songs -- the labor movement -- just like a tree, standin by the water, we shall not be moved; civil rights -- oh, deep in my heart, I do believe, that we shall overcome some day; anti war -- all we are saying, is give peace a chance -- so we could use an anthem too, to keep folks inspired cuz its an uphill battle,
Enoy your Sunday and your oldie tunes on your iPOD.
Here are the lyrics for the main part of the song. I like the prelude too.
With music by our side
To break the color lines
Let's work together
To improve our way of life
Join voices in protest
To social injustice
A generation full of courage
Come forth with me
CHORUS:
People of the world today
Are we looking for a better way of life
We are a part of the rhythm nation
People of the world unite
Strength in numbers we can get it right
One time
We are a part of the rhythm nation
This is the test
No struggle no progress
Lend a hand to help
Your brother do his best
Things are getting worse
We have to make them better
It's time to give a damn
Let's work together come on
Hugs,
Pip
