Allergic reaction I think MTX | Arthritis Information
I woke up with a rash on my throat. It spred to face and my eyes itched terribly. Yes i am taking prednisone and antihystmine. I assume it was the MTX as i took it before bed last night. Actually if i was not taking medicine i can tell my toes even felt itchy. So i am probably wanting to break out everywhere. Also very tired.
I have to say it is discouraging. I am just an allergy freak. I am used to dissapiontment. I have a malady of conditions that i can not treat. It is just who i am.. So I am just thinking realistically. Prednisone may be my only option. Till the vacine comes available.
I could keep trying. This has just been two meds. Usually if i have a reaction to a drug say for reflux. I have tryed everything for reflux and am allergic to all of them. Just an example of how i work.
Itchy but in good spirits. Discouraged but not deppressed or even angry. It is just seems to make things worse for me to try to treat with RA meds. It did make the pain more managable. It was helping with the muscle pain alot. Strange maybe but very true. My pain meds and the pred just did not cut it till i started taking the MTX. So i maybe apt to try again when the pain gets to that piont as i am sure it probably will.
Milly, honey, I've missed you. Please don't give up and keep searching. And please keep on the probiotics. Did you try Benadryl for the rash? Maybe it will go away.

Milly you'll probably want to call your doctor ASAP about that rash. Especially if it is still bothersome after treatment with prednisone and an antihistamine. As Pip said, try benadryl if that's not the antihistamine you're using right now. It is the gold standard of antihistamines. It is what is used in the ER for severe allergic reactions. You can take 1 or two pills every 6 to 8 hours as needed, but definitely run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.
The rash will go away eventually. As i will not take anymore MTX. It is pretty serious it is in my eyeballs. I am genually ill feeling. Actually benadryl is not something i can take. Tavist works pretty well for me as far as allergic reactions go. At least it prevent me from going into shock. I have been busy lately so sorry for not posting much. I will keep researching. I just am not in a big hurry to try another RA med. There is a difference between researching and being a lab rat. LOL I am addicted to researching. That is who i am and what i am interested in. Well I am not allergic to researching so i can still do that.I am going to the doctor tommorrow. I am the king of experience on allergic reactions. I just can not take benadryl. But Tavist is alright to take for allergic reaction. For me it would be a worse situation if i took the Benadryl. It makes me catotonic. Able to know what is happening but unable to move or even hardly breath. It would be like watching myself dieing. Really scary. I guess i am allergic to Benadryl. You need to get to the doc right away so they can tell you to discontinue the drug. I swell up like a balloon, I add inches to my calves alone when i take mtx. Many people have different toxic reactions to several of these drugs.So sorry you are an allergic mess! Hope you get some relief soon!
