Doubling my reicade dose!! | Arthritis Information

 

I have been getting 5mg of remicade per kilo of weight for my sarcoidosis and it is helping but not to the extent that we had hoped and the benefits seem to wear off very quickly.  I have talked with my sarcoidosis doc a couple of times over the last 5 days or so. We have decided to increase my dose to 10mg per kilo of weight.  So, when I get my next infusion this Thursday, I will be getting a double dose!  I am excited and nervous. 

We talked about the effects the steroids have on my depression and he agreed that it would be best if I just take them for a week or so before my infusions IF i need them as opposed to staying on them for a month or so continuously.  I am very happy about that and hoping with the increase dose in remicade that I might not even need any steroids next month!

Now, I just have to make it two more days until my infusion! I am exhausted beyond belief and hurting but feeling a bit more positive with this increase in dose.
Good, at least they're doing something!  I really hope this gives you the long-term relief you need.  Hang in there Hope it works out well for you- hang in there you can make it!Fingers crossed!!! Thanks everyone!!  I sure hope this does the trick.  My uveitis is so bad my eyes feel like they are bleeding, I would love to be able to ditch the steroid eye drops once and for all! I hope the increase will last longer and give you much relief. Keep us posted!I  just started remicade and I am finding out the same thing. they will have to increase my dosage. It's been about two weeks and the remicade is wearing off.Hope I can last that long but it seems to be helping. Good luck to you.

Tomorrow can not come soon enough.  I feel like the walking dead, only they probably don't hurt as much! The glands in my neck are so swollen, I can barely swallow or turn my head.  I haven't been able to sleep because I am gasping for air.  I know I am not going to make out the day at the office.  My boss is pissed but I really feeling more than terrible.  I just hope that infusion kicks in right away.  I couldn't imagine how bad I would be if I hadn't started steroids last week. Hope the doubled up dose provides much relief for you, Michelle.

 

 

Well, I went home early yesterday and slept for 15 hours straight.  If you can believe it, I am still tired!! I went and got my infusion this morning.  They got my IV on the first try, always a bonus!  The doc had ordered extra hydration along with the increase in dose.  I dozed on and off for the 3.5 hours I was there. 

I am sitting at the office but thankfully, its really slow but that makes it harder to stay awake!  I am hoping by tomorrow, I will be feeling better.  If the elephant would get off my chest, I would be much obliged!  I just have to get through the rest of today and tomorrow at work than I can rest all weekend-the house work will wait another week!!
