 Hello Everyone,

Well once again I'm here to ask a question..??

The flu has visit my home and yes it hit me. No fever yet.

I was wondering when we get sick with a cold or have the flu symptoms, is it safe to take medicine for the cold, Tylenol for fever, cough syrups..ext....what I mean is it bad to mix cold medications with..

Mtx- Plaquenil- Folic Acid-Pred. Enbrel.

I know I need to call my Dr. and I will I was just wondering what you all do for your colds.

Is there any bad drug mix ups with taking any other medications

I was told that if we get a fever we would have to go to the hospital..why ? I don't know and that got me a little worried. So I decided to ask all you being that I am so new to RA.

Well I hope this is not a dumb question....cough..cough.

Thanks
Ofelia

I don't know the answer- I've been lucky enough not to have caught any colds. I just wanted to say feel better soon!I've had a terrible cold/cough/fever for last few days and have taken tylenol cold medication.
But of course it's best to see what your doctor says if your concerned about what you're already taking.
I have taken cold medications on MTXthank you....what so funny is back in October 2007 all my kids and my husband got so sick and it just passed me up...Not this time........

sniff niff....cough....sneeze......ok a little to much..lol

Ofelia. Feel very privileged to get a cold. I take a more conservative approach when I do get one. I stay home and take care of myself. chicken soup, lots of water and a hot bath. I love Lorster's idea...

I (knock knock) haven't gotten a cold as yet.. but my RD told me to take anything that doesn't have aspirin or ibuprophen derivatives.. and if I wasn't sure.. ask the pharmacologist.

He also said I could take some cough meds w/ dextramethorphan to combat some ill effects of MTX...

I hope you feel better soon!!
hi ofelia i get a flue jab every year ... the problem whith the meds
they knock out the immune system and the like of pred can hide infection
so a person may not know they are ill untill they are really ill
if i get ill i go to the docs.. antibiotics may be needed..

Boney  Like always this is a place to come to when your just not sure

Thank you all for taking the time to make me feel better with you advice.
