OT moved ahead with the bus plans! | Arthritis Information

I posted on the 'high gas' thread about looking into chartering a bus or shuttle to travel to the children's hospital, because it takes me a tank of gas, not to mention the stress of the long day.

GUESS WHAT!!!!!!!!  If I can get about 50 people, I SAVE money.  It comes out to just under per person.

It took to fill up my minivan today.

Plus, no parking.  Plus, curb service.  Plus, there is a bathroom on the bus.

So I set up an e-mail for interested parties to let me know.   And I e-mailed the health reporter and asked her if she would mention it in her column.

I'll have to pay for it myself upfront and I won't book it unless I have a ton of interest.  Then it will be '1st come, 1st serve, non-refundable unless I can fill your seat'.
Great Idea!!Keep us posted on how it worked out.The reporter thought it was a great idea...wanted to know how many people I had interested.  Just us so far LOL.  I e-mailed back that was why I needed her help, because I couldn't commit to it without knowing there was enough interest.  I'm going to post on some local 'mom' boards today, too. If it doesn't work out for the bus, perhaps you can still use your minivan and be the shuttle driver, charging others to ride with you, offseting the gas costs.  At the very least you may meet folks you can share rides with.I just don't want that much 'togetherness' with complete strangers LOL.  It is a six hour round trip - think about it.  And I'd still be schlepping from the parking lot, passing out the juice boxes, changing DVD, driving in rain or whatever.....plus hearing somebody's sob story...LOL.

I want to ride side by side with my daughter, kick back and watch the movie, too!

Hmmm, a limo would be nice. . .

But still lacks a bathroom.  I'm telling you, I'm sold on this bus deal LOL.  A bus bathroom can't be worse than the places we have had to stop for my daughter. Sounds like a good idea.  Hope it works out.  Maybe the hospital could post a notice.
