This seems like a similar finding to a Medicare study I saw.  Remicade is not "cost effective" compared to Enbrel/Humira, they say.  Where does that leave patients, who do not respond to Enbrel and/or Humira?
Out in the cold...I am one of those patients, although I havent been refused it. I have been on Humira first, then enbrel am trying rutiximab and the other option i was offered was remicade. It does depend on what area you live in as well  , a lady i know who lives 10 miles from me was declined enbrel as she lives in the wrong postcode area( zip code). They call it the postcode lottery here.( the worst of it is she was a patient for the enbrel trials and it worked wonderfully for her) She has the same rheumatologist as me and he has fought to get it reinstated.

You know, this is so sad.

It's more than sad, it's criminal.  It's hard to believe that if you lose the zipcode lottery you could become crippled, not able to work, and live in pain,  or worse - die.  I'm sure if they're playing this lottery with arthritis meds what are they doing with chemotherapy?  It seems every country has their own unique coverage problems.  Lindy Lin there is a postcode lottery here too for herceptin(sp) a drug for breast cancer. Its like saying who lives and who dies and its just not human.hi i have seen articles in the paper about the meds ..same old
thing money before life.. example in uk.. man stabs a man to death
court give him 3yrs jail.  man Robs bank gets 10 yrs in jail..
