My Doc Visit | Arthritis Information

This one went so much better than the last one. For one thing I actually saw the doc! Anyway it was over two hours! Talk about looking at me! The doc did a physical and then took a ton of blood and did x-rays. She says depending on what the test come out as she would like to put me on Lyrica for sure! This surprised me because the office usually doesn't treat fibro, but I don't care who does as long as they do! Then she said she wanted to see where my levels are to figure out where to go. She did say she wasn't afraid to use biologics with me, yay, all the docs in AZ said I was too high risk. Then she made a comment that JRA usually doesn't go into adulthood, but she does see about six people who it did, and they are doing very well with the treatments. So considering that she brought up the biologics and the she sees other people with jRA, I think she believes I am still active. Anyway she was very in depth and I feel very comfortable with her. It is a drive to get to her about 35miles, but if she helps I don't care, lol I have driven longer! You could ask my mom all about that. I get the test result next week and we figure it out from there, but they are going to take me as a patient and treat me, FINALLLY! Someone who doesn't think its all in my head out here! Sounds like a great appointment - and a great doctor.   I hope you find some answers soon. This is great news! I'm really happy for you.  It's going to keep getting better from here on.  hi shaducky.. i dont know what Lyrica is    I'm so glad things went well...sounds like they are really listening.

Boney, Lyrica is a med that was initially used to treat nerve pain (which is why I started on it) and it is now the first drug approved (at least in the US) to treat fibromyalgia (which is another good reason for me to be on it).
Glad you had such a good appointment.  I hope this is the first step towards you getting the relief you need.Great news. A good doctor that cares. I am happy to hear this. I hope you get relief soon. This is a step in the right direction. Good luck. That is GREAT! I hope she really helps you. Yeah, from what I gather from reading about JRA, we seem to be the odd ones... who keep their JRA.

I am doing better, and I am sure you will be too once she figures out what to do with you.

My RD is 45 mins away too. But I like her.
I really question the statement that most JRAers don't carry it into adulthood. I've surely known more who've kept it than had permanent remissions. So happy you had a good appt. with a thorough exam! Best of luck to you!Shaducky, great news about the appointment - sounds like you have a great doctor on your team.  Take care ~~ Cathy
