Methotrexate and anti inflamatories | Arthritis Information

Hi guys, my name is Gary and I'm 19.
I have recently been diagnosed with R. arthritis.

It's mostly noticable in my hands but i have never had any 'flare ups'.

I'm just wondering, is it ok if i take an anti inflam. to reduce some swelling i have in my finger? I don't think its the arthritis though, it's not a 'joint pain'. More of a muscular pain. I am not really sure what arthritis pain feels like as i have never had any symptoms.

So i guess im just asking if it's ok for me to mix the two?

Methotrexate 5mg btw :)

Thanks in advance.
Ask your doctor!  There might be a reason you aren't on an anti-inflamm, but a lot of adults and children are on both mtx and NSAIDS.  Good luck. It's fine, love. To mix the two. Anti inflams and MTX are mixed all the time. Make sure you take both with food though to protect your stomach. I am on MTX and an anti inflam - Celebrex. Muscular pain responds to anti inflams too...they prescribe them for torn muscles, tendons, sprained ankles etc so it will probably do the job. As for arthritis pain, it feels many different ways and you can be sure you will definitely know what it feels like when it happens.  You guys have been very helpful, thanks very much :) No probs...it's what we do.  hi gary welcome to you. if you are on mtx and still having probs you
should see your doc 5mg mtx is very low dose..

you say you  have never had any arthritis symptoms i wonder
what the reason was for you to go to the docs ..
