Dr. Appt- Questions? Medrol? | Arthritis Information

Hi Guys,

I had my RA doc appt today.

He wants me to start medrol, but a small dose, 4 mg /day. Anyone take this? anything I should know about it?? I've never heard of Medrol and thought I'd check with others on here to see what their experiences were.

Also need to increase my Plaquenil from 200 to 400 mg /day...wondering if it will affect my eyes. Guess I wont really know until something happens and to just keep getting my eyes checked on a regular basis.

THANKS ....AGAIN...

Kelly

I've taken short courses of medrol many times.  Works great for me!

I take 400mg plaquenil/day.  As long as you get regular eye checkups, you'll be able to catch eye problems before you even notice the issue.

[/QUOTE] Kelly, you may not have heard of Medrol, because that is another name for prednisone, or pred, which you may see talked about a lot on here.  4 mg is a small dose, but if it's helping, that's great.  Does your doc intend for you to stay on it or use it temporarily? InnerGlow:

Oh wow..I didnt' know it was also Prednisone. He didn't say how long I'd be on it. he said he wants to try and get the malaise I'm feeling everynight to go away and once I'm more stable to start MTX. (I feel awful anytime after 8pm...like i have the flu, chills, really sore and achy and gets worse the longer I stay up)
That's a pretty low dose; but you'll likely be amazed at how much better you'll feel pretty quickly.

Hope it helps!
