Amazing Remission | Arthritis Information

Well I got the test results back from the doc, I now have OA pretty bad throughout my joints, but my jRA is in remission. I don't know how, I was told this really was not going to happen. I am very happy though. My fibro and the OA is what is causing the extreme pain, thankfully I have been able to control the fibro with a extreme diet and may not have to take the medication for it. In the past I ate no dairy, no red meat, and no processed food. Its pretty much eating raw with fish! lol. But yey I am jRA free and I am gonna lose weight! Not to mention that I am free of these mean drugs for a while. I pray I have a break for a long time. I went into remission once, for five months, so I am a little worried because when  it came back it was a hundred times more aggressive. I am still in shock. I have had this as long as I can rememer, I don't know what it is like not to have it....I am new, granted I am still full of other stuff, the jRA is gone! I am FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Congrats!!Congrats ShaDucky!

Yay!  Happy to hear it Wooo hooo!
I have been eating a 'raw with fish' (no grains, no processed foods, no sugar, no red meat) diet myself now for about three weeks, after seeing some interesting articles about insulin, gluten, ect and inflamation, immune response.  I have had a bottle of Arava sitting on my counter for almost a month now, and I am so worried about the side effects I can't bring myself to start it.  I've been on Enbrel alone (methotrexate kicked my butt) for about 9 months, with more and more joints becoming red and swollen.  I'm afraid NOT to hit the RA aggressively (dx'd about a year ago), but I'm a little more afraid of long term use of these drugs (at least at the moment, I waver back and forth day to day).
Questions:  How long did it take for the diet changes to show a difference in your RA symptoms/blood work?  I've seen conflicting info about eggs; do you eat eggs?  Also, even though there have been several threads related to this lately, I would like to hear, again, opinions about the benifits of drug therapy.  I've watched my mom with RA for about 20 years, and she's been on pretty much every drug used for RA (including minocin), and I don't think at any time she has really had 'relief' from symptoms.  But, how much worse could it have been?  Curious to hear from those of you that have had this for a long time. . .
ShaDucky, congrats on remission.  It's pretty amazing when it happens.   Any progress is always great. Glad to hear it. Wow! That is GREAT news! Sorry about the OA.

Now I am the only one with active JRA... I am an OLD JRA'er.

*edited - because I answered my own question. What? I am not to "bright" today.*
