FDA probes cancer in kids given arthritis drugs

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. health officials are investigating whether drugs used to treat rheumatoid arthritis and Crohn's disease may have contributed to cases of lymphoma and other cancers in children and young adults, the Food and Drug Administration said on Wednesday.

The drugs are members of a family called TNF blockers. The medicines are Johnson & Johnson's Remicade, Amgen Inc's and Wyeth's Enbrel, Abbott Laboratories Inc's Humira and UCB's Cimzia.

Please, no.  Great.  How many times have I said lymphoma was low on my list of worries?  It just moved up a few notches. I thought this was old news?  I just saw something in 2005 saying the FDA was investigating skin cancers etc and TNF's.  It was in a mag - I'm years behind in those too.

I think they said it about adults, then it was refuted by some 'studies', now they are looking into reports about children.  More kids are on them now, so more things will start turning up.
