OT - Mom Update | Arthritis Information

"Greetings To Everyone!"

Life is beginning to settle down just a bit - at least I now have time to catch my breath.

My mom's health is slowly returning. From the hospital she went to a swing bed and now resides in a nursing home. She isn't having a problem at all adjusting to her new digs. We were fortunate in that there was an opening available at the time she needed in her home town. The alternative would have been to have her move into a nursing quite close to us. She was okay with this option but definitely pleased she didn't have to leave her home town.

As I said adjusting to her new digs isn't a problem because she knows most of the people living there as they are from her home town and surrounding communities.  She needs a bit of assistance in walking and in getting to her wheelchair. Her mind, spirits and appetite are all good.  She shares a room but she and the other lady have been friends for many years. So all in all life is good.

The depressing aspect is that my sister and I must once again sort through her personal affects and make decisions we don' want to make. We went through this when she found it necessary to move to her assisted living residence, too.  Heartbreaking - So Heartbreaking.

In quickly perusing through the posts I have a whole lot of reading ahead of me!  Don't be looking for any responses immediately if not sooner.  Am so behind on lawnwork, housework, etc.  My five-year old granddaughter told me she had almost forgotten what I looked like so you know what I'm planning on doing with a lot of my time in the next few days!

Once again, "Thank You", for all your prayers, kind messages and thoughts.

WW,

Good to hear that things are going better with your Mom.  How fortunate that she is not among strangers, but among people she knows.  Being among friends has a positive effect on one's attitude and well being, so this should make this living transition easier for her.

Take care, and enjoy your granddaughter - I have a 5 yr old grand nephew, they can tire you out, but they're a lot of fun, and awfully sweet.

Glad to hear she is doing better, hope she continues to improve.

Much hugs
Will continue to keep you and your mother in my prayers.  I am sorry that you are the one that has to go through her belongings and decide what to do...Thanks for updating us. Glad she has adjusted well. Will keep you both in my prayers. So glad to hear that things are so much better for your Mom. Of course, any change in living situation can be difficult, but sounds like this is the best place for her to be. Especially good to hear that she is happy and friends with her room-mate.

I know its hard for you to have to go through her things. That can break your heart. But, thank God, she is still with you and sounds happy.

Much love, Nini
I am happy to hear the transition has gone so well.  Seeing familiar faces would make anyone happier  when having to make a move like this.

Now go enjoy that granddaughter!
I am really pleased to hear that you mum is improving and liking her new home, that is a blessing in itself. Go and have some fun with the grandaughter and take care of yourself too.
Hugs
HI WW, fantastic news, now how about some "you" time?  Take care, continued prayers coming your way, love Janie.
