My Stupid Questiond for the Day | Arthritis Information

 

Well... I have been meaning to ask this question the message board for a few months now, but kept forgetting about it. So... here it goes!

When in doubt....take the whole thing! Good question!  I don't break pills often, but when I do they never split evenly, so I'm pretty sure I've never gotten the right amount.My doctor prescribed me 20 mg Lexapros, which I break in half (take 10 mg) so the bottle lasts twice as long!  I have trouble making a 50/50 break a lot of the time, but I just hope it averages out!That's not a stupid question, and even if it was you're not limited to only one a day!!  I know that their are some pills they warn you not to split, so check with the pharmacist before you do it.That is a funny question!  I thought the exact same thing while "trying " to break in half my Medrol! He said to take half in the morning and half in the afternoon!  They never seem to break just right, I've tried several different knifes...but no luck.A good pill cutter does the trick but be sure to check with your pharmacist regarding splitting them. I think if the pill is scored, has a line down the middle, then its okay to split and take half.   My trilisates were like that -- a hassle sometimes as these arthritic fingers couldn't break them evenly in half  -- but double check with the pharmacist, as I'm not totally sure.  Joonie, Joonie, Joonie, you know there's no such thing as a stupid question here!  LOL  If you don't know the answer, it's a good question and I think you've gotten some good answers here.  Thanks for the answers everyone!
