Humira injection yesterday! | Arthritis Information

My DH took his first injection yesterday for his PsA.  This morning he told me...

"If yesterday my pain was a 10...then today it's a 6 or 7!"
I'm so happy and excited!  I didn't think it would work that quick.

Have you had quick results?  I hope he continues to get better.  Thanks.

Everyone reacts differently so timing is different too.  But it is great that he responded so quickly.  Mine took a little time to help but was happy I tried it.  Using pen or needle?

Hi windyone.  He's using the pen.  He didn't seem to mind it at all.  He said it didn't hurt much.
We took the pen out of the refrigerator about 20 minutes before the injection.  We put ice pack on injection site..then alcohol the area.  We waited till alcohol dried then injected.  It was quick and easy. :)  He's feeling remarkably better today than yesterday.  :)
Marcy that's great. It took a few weeks for me to start feeling better and after a month it was remarkable, and after 2 months I was in clinical remission.  So it's possible, even after 10 years.  Lindyhey great that he had a good first experience!  I used the shots (syringe) for a year and a half before I switched to the pen.  I usually leave the humira out, swab, wait till dry and inject.  I have heard of people using ice on the site prior to injecting but after awhile he probably won't need to use it because you just get used to it.  In 10 seconds it is all over anyway.   Some have side effects and mostly it just made me feel like I had the flu for a day or two and then I felt terrific!!!!  Take care!Thank you for your replies. :)  Yesterday we went to the dr.  My DH needed his yearly check up.  Luckily, this Dr. is Assoc with his Rhuemy too. :)  (that makes it nice) :)
Anyway...my DH didn't take any pain meds for about 15 hours before his checkup because he was having blood tests.  He wanted nothing to show up in blood test.
He ended up in pretty bad pain agian. :(   The Dr. told him to take his pain meds.
She also said that the Humira probably has not had time to take effect yet.  He was just probably have a "good" couple of days.

Today..he feels pretty good again.  However..he's back to taking his pain med 2x a day and advil.  So..guess we'll wait and see what the next dose of Humira does.

Thank you all again for your replies and support. :)
