Hi guys, I find myself sitting here contemplating my MTX IM injection tomorrow, wondering if I should ask my GP to decrease it back to 10mgfrom 12.5mg.  My side effects are becoming intolerable again, the mouth ulcers, hair loss, acne, and mood swings I can take but the bad tummies that usually happen 2 nights out of 7 are hard to take!  I spend up to 3 hours running or should I say limping to the toilet starts off with cramps, sweats and eventually (sorry for TMI) diarrheoa.  By then I am absolutely exhausted.  The other problem is the exhaustive fatigue, I slept for 5 and a half hours today, could not function and my eyes kept closing.  I have been like this for the last couple of weeks, actually funnily enough when we increased the MTX to 12.5mg from 10mg???????  Wierd hey?

What to do?  The MTX definitely helps me but not enough to get my ESR to an acceptable level, RITUXAN is the next option, I am sorry to be pessimistic, but I haven't tried a drug yet that I can tolerate, and all the biologics have given me an anaphylactic reaction, so I am very negative about trying anymore, getting my hopes up just to be dashed again.

So at this stage I don't even want any MTX tomorrow.  I am under extra stress with Liam, my sons diagnosis of JIA and AS, and know that this isn't helping, where does it all end.  I really feel low and have been crying a lot when everyone has gone to bed.  I am ok though, I usually tell myself not to be a weakling and just deal with it.  Thanks for listening guys, by the way, I have lost another 2 kilos, total now 7kgs in 4 months.  So I am patting myself on the back.!!!!!!!!!!!!! First of all well done on the weight loss, Im trying hard at the moment too. I too can not tolerate meds and my next choice is ritiximab(rutixan). Speak to your g.p. about reducing the MTX or ask him for something to combat the stomach problems, its no fun to be in pain from stomach issues due to meds. The fatigue is normal with MTX but maybe you need your iron levels checked to make sure its not anemia. I hope things get sorted out for you jane. Lots of hugs
