Question for type 2 diabetics | Arthritis Information

My husbands fasting blood glucose was 108. His doctor told him he was borderline diabetic with a number like this. Triglycerides were 434. Does 108 seem like a high number. I thought this was in an acceptable range. What do your doctors tell you?I've always heard that under 100 was ideal (some say around 90 is better). This info is hard to find as far as numbers go. In the hospital we work strictly with numbers and sliding scales but not much with the diagnosis itself.Sounds to me like he's in what they're now calling "pre-diabetes".  I think they have been lowering the acceptable number lately and if you're in the 100-120 range you fall into this in-between category.  The tryiglycerides though are through the roof.  If it were me, I wouldn't let them put me on diabetic medication, but I would try to adjust my eating if possible and re-test the levels.  I would let them put me on triglycerides meds though, unless there's another underlying reason for that.  JMHO.90 is high normal on my lab normals.  When I was on Pred. it was up to 108 but returned to mid normal range once I tapered off Pred.  He may be prediabetic and that can be turned around with diet.  My worry would be his trigly at 434.  He may be able to lower it by diet but he also may need medication.  LindyMy triglycerides were in the high 300's when I was diagnosed hypothyroid, but after a few months of Synthroid they fell into the 130-140 range.  Did they test his thyroid?

My glucose was also borderline, 101 I think, and that's now normal as well.  I started a gluten-free diet, which may have contributed to the lower glucose reading.
Bumping so I can remember to ask my hubby in the AM.

Pip
my glucose was 97   it saids here on my lab report normal range is 74-106
My triglycerides were 54
Hdls 72 but my
Ldls are bad 136:(
cholesterol 220.
I run 4 miles a day and I am exhausted alot.
I cant figure out what it is wrong with me /RA but now I have difficulty swallowing as of late.
I hope your husbands can take something to help.
From my lab report 108 is only two points above this level shown here for glucose. The normal triglycerides level here saids 0 to 249 so he should get looked into this asap.

Good luck.
