Hi all,

As you will figure from my absence, I'm still feeling good on the Humira so have been very busy doing all sorts of fun things like more work on the farm, and trout fishing after not being able to for 9 long years!!!  For those fellow anglers, yes been catching plenty of 4 and 5 lbers

I've had two appointments with my Rheumy in the last two weeks.  I was told today that surgery may be an option to help relieve severe pain in my tootsies

Have any of you had foot surgery?  If so, would you mind sharing your experience of it?  Was it successful?  How long were you laid up for?  Were both feet operated on at the same time?

I'm really excited about the prospect of having this pain dealt to - can you tell?

Hi ,

I haven't had foot surgery but will next week. I have been walking on marbles for close to eight years.  The doctor is doing the left foot first as I need my driving foot. He is doing a metatarsal resection and I can not bear weight on it for Two (Long for me) weeks.  After that I can bear weight , mostly heel, up to six weeks.  Everyone tells me the trick to a faster recovery is keep the foot elevated and iced, non-stop, for the first week.

I will wait and see how the first goes and then do the second one.  Sorry can't help you on experience but I hope someone does as I am interested too!

No foot surgery but so happy to hear you have been feeling good and having fun! Keep it up!Thanks for your responses Boney, LuAnn and Want to be

I wish you well for your upcoming surgery LuAnn and look forward to hearing how you're doing after it.  Both my feet are as bad as the other too.   Do you also get chronic pain in your heels?  And, burning pain that travels up your legs when walking or standing for more than a couple of minutes?  All the best for a speedy recovery after surgery

I always day dream of catching the big one whilst out fishing Boney

Midgi,

I was hoping there would be more responses on foot surgery.  Thanks for the well wishes on my surgery next week.  Both my feet are bad but I chose left foot as I need to be able to drive my daughter to summer camps.  I do have heel pain but that's from walking on my heel as the dislocated metatarsal protrude on pad of my foot.

I am looking forward to walking normal again.....Woo Hoo

I will keep you posted on progress.

Hi Midgi, I share your enthusiasm on feeling great with Humira.  It's been 5 months for me and it's the best  I've felt in over 10 years.  I've had minor surgery on my feet, nothing as major as you're having, I just wanted to say hi and wish you luck.  LindyHi Midgimoo,
I haven't had surgery on my foot yet but I soon will be having a triple arthrodesis(fusion) of the midfoot  as soon as the surgeons get my knee to settle down. I am told that I will be non weight bearing and in a cast 6 to 8 weeks. I belong to this site where people talk about what they are and have gone through re ankle foot surgeries and there is also a picture gallery so you can actually see what they have gone through, I have found it quite interesting and helpful. Hope it helps you too.

Sorry that I haven't been back before now to acknowledge the additional posts to my thread - thanks guys  My days have got busier and come evenings, I'm too knackered to much other than veg out on the couch and watch a spot of tele.  I have a new addition to my farm that needs a lot of attention - a now two week old, feral goat.  She's a gorgeous wee thing and heaps of fun.

Thanks for the link to ankle fusion group Hammerstein
