I got a call today... | Arthritis Information

I got a call today from my GP's office. I was thinking "Oh No! I missed my appt." Then the lady asks if I had gotten my results from my halter monitor I wore for 24hrs. I said I did not remember. Then she said well... you have a rapid heart rate and need to be on something for it. I was like ok. Then she asked if I was on any blood pressure meds. I said yeah. Then she looked in my file and said 20mg of Coreg CR? I was like... no, 12.5mg of Coreg 2xday. Then she asked who put me on that amount. I told her GP did last time I was there. She said oh well that is not noted in your file.

Yeah! I called hubby and told him about it and that I am glad I did not have anything really really bad with my heart otherwise I would have been dead by now!

I wore that holter monitor almost 3 months ago and they are just now worrying about the results and how to treat it!

My GP & his office sucks.

That's pretty scary that they just got around to it, and that they don't even know how much medication they put you on!  Glad it isn't anything horrible at this point.Joonie please change GP's- your health depends on it. That is just unacceptable!Joonie,

WOW! Yeah, definately change your GP! I know it's a pain to find someone new and start all over again explaining your health history, but once you find that good dr. it will be a relief.
hi joonie. what a nightmare.. you must see the same doc as me

Thanks for the replies. I cannot change GP's because he is the only one in town that had an opening for Medicaid recipients. The GP that Medicaid assigned me to before I changed to him was in the next town. she was rude, overcharged me on the co-pay, and even with all the swelling and limited ROM she questioned me having RA. So... I changed over to him because he was the only one that had an opening.

I really like his nurse practioner, she is very nice and listens and is not rushed. One time spent like 20 mins with me! I was hoping to get her again, but I guess he takes over when you have a real problem like heart problems.

Yeah... I already knew they did not have my Coreg info right, from the other time I went to get my last RX of Coreg CR before switching to Coreg. GP did not write down a dosage on the RX and pharmacy had to call for the dosage. I guess GP did not write it down in my file.

The last time I saw him, I had to wait for him. He was at the hospital next door admitting a patient and doing something. When he got back... I was the first patient all the others left. So, I am guessing he was just trying to catch up.

The other times before that visit he explained things and answered questions and all. I know he saw my holter monitor results because he refered to them the next visit after wearing it.

joonie2008-06-13 11:49:45Yikes- well be extra careful then. Keep your own notes...Oh yeah forgot to mention. I knew I was told about my holter monitor testing, I just said I did not remember so she would tell me anyways. To see if it was something I did not already know.

Regardless of who you are doctor is you need to ride their butt about stuff.

Yeah... I am starting to figure that out. I have not really dealt with doctors as much as I have in the last 3 years. I use to just put things off until I could not stand it anymore. I still do, but it is a shorter waiting period The problem are the times you feel so ill you cannot keep track of things for them....I'm an RN and I've worked a physicians office.  You wouldn't believe how easy it is to miss writing a med into a list.  With as many people as they see in a day PLUS the phone calls they receive, things are easier to miss.  It will be better with EMR's (electronic medical records) because medications written will follow through to a list.   My GP's office runs the same way yet when he's concerned, he calls me personally............Now that's a caring physician.joonie. i take coreg for migraine prevention and it works so well for that. I have gone from 3 migraines a week to one migraine every 2 years. is a wonderful drug for all sorts of problems. Joonie - I totally understand.  Three months, geez.  Cheer up, you finally have their attention.  That is nice to know, Lorster. My RD says I get fibro induced migraines. She says that my neck/shoulders/upper back problems causes, what feels like a muscle that runs up the side of my head behind almost half way to ears, is an actual migraine.

I have not had many of those problems since starting Nortriptyline 80mg.
Joonie. I lied. I'm not on coreg...I'm on corgard...which is still a beta blocker. Coreg is more cardiac specific but both do a good job with headaches. My brain is a bit foggy today, sorry bout that.
