Has anyone had a cortisone shot in the foot?   I was recently diagnosed with peroneal tendonitis.   The podiatrist was just awful, mean and condescending but he did offer a shot.

I said no because it doesn't hurt that much and then I read on the internet that these shots are not recommended because the tendons in the foot are small and can easily rupture.

I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who has any experience with this type of tendonitis and what there experience was.

Thanks.

Dotty, for one thing, don't even consider getting you're tendons injected from a podiatrist who was "awful, mean and condescending" and secondly, I wouldn't have my foot tendons injected.  I've had some pretty painful episodes of tendonitis in my Achilles due to PsA and all 3 of my doctors have NOT recommended tendon injection because of the possibility of tendon rupture.  I've just waited out the tendonitis and treated my foot gently.  LindyDear Lin B,  thanks for your reply.  I think you are definitely right.

My next question for you,  can one get better.  I asked the doctor and he said he didn't know.  Not to encouraging.

I know foot stuff is hard to heal because it's hard to stay off of them.

I could use some encouraging words!
I'm not sure why you have tendonitis but it usually calms and disappears with rest.  Mine is caused by psoriatic arthritis and usually when a flare occurs my Achilles are extremely painful and once the flare has subsided so does the tendonitis.  I just have to take it easy.  Lindy
