After reading your earlier post I have decided that you must attend the same medical surgery as I do..................the reception is manned by 2 rottweilers and a pit bull terrier!!
Yes it could be sciatiaca. This is also common in Fibromyalgia. I've experienced it myself, couldn't get out of bed without a cane.
physical pains in the rear is not generally joint related. As someone said sciatica or other low back issues could be the cause. RA hip joint pain is felt in the groin and towards the inside of the knee.
Give your doctor a ring and see what he says.
Hi May, I know the pain you describe very well - I've had it since I first got crook with RA 20 years ago. My Rheumy tells me it's is caused by either Fibro or Bursitis - I have both. It really feels like you've got severely battered and bruised bum bones. Steriod injections can often help. I've had many large dose steroid injections over the years to enable me to continue enjoying my outdoor activities,but I'm paying the price for them now. I've made the decision not to have any more of them.
This pain gets worse after doing any activities that require bending. I was a horserider when I initially got RA and after a ride I'd go to my GP and have laser treatment on that area. My GP at the time was great and charged very little for the treatment. Laser made for a quicker recovery time but eventually the pain got so bad when riding that I had to give up.
Tell me, do you have similar pain in your outer and inner thighs?

Totally I have a sore hinney. Yes i had entire bone scan done once just because of hinney pain. Yes sciatic pain goes to the foot. Not a just a pinched nerve as that would be all of the time. I have a come and go hinney conditiion. It is bad. It is one of my biggest problems of pain. Some times my hips swell also.
My theory is that swelling of some sort sets it off and then the nerve gets pinched. Or it is a fibromyagia thing? I have not yet found the cure. Have tryed ultra sound treatments. Chiropractic treatments. Fibro treatments. Shots. It just flares up and then i wait for it to go away. Anyway i mean i have seen orthopeditics, chipropracters, RD's physical theorapist. Maybe it is RA and my RA is just not under control. Also have seen a neurologist.
Well i have to take pain pills because my ankles and knees are swollen. So that helps a little. Let me know if you find a cure. I would forever be in your debt.
