Does tendonitis cause swelling?

I ask because the swelling in my ankles is on the outside of the foot and between the ankle bone and achilles tendon. I do not have trouble flex nor much pain, unless I have been on them for awhile.

Hummm...

Hi!  I have excruciating tendonitis in my feet (on the top, mostly) and there is no swelling at all.  I can't believe I can have so much pain with no swelling, but I guess that's for the best.  It's weird.

Hi Brooke

Thanks for the reply. Yeah... it is weird how you can have so much pain without swelling.

Well, I guess that means... my swelled ankles is RA, then. I will put it on my
List-O-Complaints" for my RD.

I hope your tendonitis gets better.
Before I was dx RA, an ortho thought I just had tendonitis.  I guess the lining of the tendons get inflammed, right?  It's related somehow? Dunno, but my swelling was first attributed to that.  But MRI showed otherwise.  So confusing.
