Tim Russert Dies | Arthritis Information

My heart is broken.  Tim Russert was the only news correspondent on NBC or any of the other Big Three networks that I would listen to.  He was impartial, fair, always prepared and a wonderful newsman.  He will be missed by so many.

Edited to add:  Even more important, he was a devoted son, father and husband.  Just a good, decent man all around.  Why do the good ones die young?
Jesse882008-06-13 15:13:51I was shocked when I got the breaking news email alert.  I enjoyed watching his show. Just tragic

He'll be missed by so many.

I loved Tim Russert!  He was a man that everyone looked up to and was totally devoted to his family and friends.  Much too young to be taken away from his family and from all of us as well as his country.  So Sad...... GG2008-06-13 17:24:29I too am broken hearted over this loss.  I loved Meet the Press (which I usually referred to as Press the Meat, but out of respect, it's Meet the Press).  Lots of thoughts and prayers tonight for his family.  Has anyone heard the cause of death? This is probably a bit soon to know. I didn't hear that he had any health problems.Lorster, they are doing an autopsy.  From msnbc.com:  "Russert’s physician, Michael Newman, said cholesterol plaque ruptured in an artery, causing sudden coronary thrombosis.

Russert had earlier been diagnosed with asymptomatic coronary artery disease, but it was well-controlled with medication and exercise, and he had performed well on a stress test in late April, Newman said. An autopsy revealed that he also had an enlarged heart, Newman said."

So sad.  It is hard to imagine a presidential election without him, isn't it?

It is so sad. so many people could identify with him.

I have coronary artery disease, and it is scary to think that the plaque can dislodge and your  heart stops,  without warning.

I am wondering if the long flight had anything  to do withit as well.

I liked him simply because of his ability to question people in a way that cut through the facades. I have watched a lot of the tribute shows that have been aired over the past few days.  I have really enjoyed them, even though so much has brought tears to my eyes.

The stories about his dad, Big Russ, have been especially touching.  The way Tim Russert lights up when he talks about him, shares stories about growing up, etc.  In one interview, he said there is one word his dad uses about politicians that means it is the end for them - "phony".  He said if Big Russ calls you a phony, you're done.

That was followed shortly by clips of both presidential candidates giving their condolences.  And frankly, to me, one of them came across as quite phony.  It was weird, following that segment about phoniness.  And I thought, wow, I'd give anything to know what Big Russ has to say about that......and wondered if Tim Russert already knew something before he died?

He also had diabetes too

My Sundays will not be the same without him.  What a fine human being and if more Americans would have watched Meet the Press, there would actually be informed voters out there.  Yes, I have been grieving since he died.  He was like family.
