more shoulder pain if sleep horizontal? | Arthritis Information

I have pmr and have elected not to use pred. Lately I have had burning shoulder pain at night in bed which is not caused by arm movement and which prevents sleep. The pain goes away in 2 to 3 minutes if I sit or stand. Does anyone else have this symptom while lying down? If not, I wonder if it is due to another cause such as nerve root compression or rotator cuff injury? Does sleeping while sitting help this? Appreciate all advice.   Richard. Good for you not to use the pred. Me too. What are you taking for it. How are you sleeping - on your side? I have to sleep on my back. I can just now turn over on my side but not to sleep - just to kinda doze or rest for a short while. My hands or something will go to sleep or i stiffen up. My shoulders do hurt when i turn on my side and i have to find a position that they dont hurt. I have an adjustable bed that really helps also. But i have not had the exact problem you describe. What is your history with pmr?
