Eye Sty | Arthritis Information

Was at the DR this morning. My eye lid became red a swollen yesterday. DR said I have a sty. Never had one before. He gave me some drops and said to put heat on the eye. Anybody here with real world experience with these ???   ThanksYes, styes are a royal pain.  Mine usually itch like crazy, so the main thing for me is to not touch it or rub it.  One of my friends, who's well-versed in holistic and alternative medicine, says that rubbing gold (like a clean piece of gold jewelry) lightly over the stye will stop it from itching.  I've found that does help some of the time, as crazy as it sounds.  Other than that, you just have to wait it out.  I'm curious what kind of drops the doctor gave you.My dad has had that.  I don't know if the same one 'flares' or if you just start getting prone to them, but I know the treatment you describe has worked for him more than once - but also one had to have something more done because it wasn't going away.

Good luck, 6t5.  I remember how painful my dad's looked, can't be fun.   Hot compresses several times a day work wonders. I had one about 2 months ago. took about a week for it to calm down. Moist heat is the key. Good luck 6t5.Thanks Everybody !!!!! Innerglow the drops are Vigamox 2x a day One dropI had 2 when i was 15.  One went away in the left eye, but had surgery to remove the right one.  They were under my top eye lid.

They messed up my eyes so i had to wear glasses.

The surgery wasn't fun.  They put iodine on my face that wouldn't come off, a paper over my face with a hole for the eye and cut it out and it was horribly painful and i had to look at them the whole time.  I was 15, so i cried the entire time while my mom held my hand.

It wasn't fun, but one wouldn't go away.  What he told you is what i did for the left and it did go away.
Vigamoxx is an anti-biotic... I had that in April for an eye irritation from the eye duct plugs..

tea bags are helpful to pull out what infection lies in the eye...  boil water.. steep bag... allow to cool a bit and lay on eye.... that was my grandmother's old time remedy for styes.
my mom used to get them occasionally. Use a teabag, as warm/hot as is comfortable, for the heat. The tacaneic acid in the tea bag speeds up the healing.I get the odd sty every now and again and I rub my yellow gold wedding band on it, repeatedly throughout the day and it clears up. An old wives tale but as Innerglow says it sounds odd but works. Thanks for the tea bag tip !!!You're welcome! I hope your eye is feeling better!

Oh - I forgot all about the teabag technique.  It also works great for allergy eyes.  If you can find the big iced-tea teabags, those work GREAT!  The regular-size teabags tend to be a bit too small and they cool off too quickly.
