Elevated Platelets CRP & WBC | Arthritis Information

HI,

Just got back from doctor. EVen though Im feeling better and have been steadily reducing pred, my bloodwork shows elevated platelets, crp and wbc. Not REALLY high, but moderately elevated. Could anyone please tell me if any of your bloodwork shows all these things elevated? My doctor now had decided he wants me to go to a hemotologist, so now I am really worried. Asked him why, he said he could do more tests to rule out anything else (now Im scared) Any input is appreciated.

I have always read on the internet that with pmr you can have higher white blood counts. And crp is usually high also....i am always glad when they want to do more tests cause the negative results puts my mind at rest.

Thanks, Smartie. I guess the main thing I am worried about is the high platelet count. Guess I will call the hematologist (sp) and make an appt. THanks again Taking prednisone can and probably will increase your platelet count. Mine have been up to over 500,000. Once you get down to the low doses, your platelet count should also drop. It takes a little time after starting out on prednisone.
