foot surgery | Arthritis Information

Hi - I had foot surgery several years ago. Make a really long list of questions to ask - write down their answers and have them sign it. BECAUSE they WILL ask you where you got the CRAZY idea that it would make everything better ) The pain was so bad I borrowed a wheel chair to use for a week or more - it took a year for it to get as good as it would and is all undone after 6 years. I'm back where I was at and that is with a shoe dr who adjusts my shoes as often as I need. I get expensive shoes almost 0 - the shoe guy - gets them for the orthodics are made inside the shoe and adjusts to your feet and keeps adjusting them inside as my feet change- has kept me walking better than the surgery did - oh yes, he doesn't charge me for any changes - a pair last a year and thats all I wear day in and day out is that one pair of shoes - tried to get two pairs once - a pair for good ones - a waste of money - as that year my feet changed alot and wouldn't let me wear the dress pair. I've learned that their is more to me than fancy shoes - I'm just happy I can get around.
I went to a new doctor yesterday - he told me that foot surgery on feet was like a dog chasing it's tail - a never ending venture.
So I've learned to adjust - how to stretch your toes out with a broom and do some of the things I want but am thankful that I can get around. Good luck! God Bless!
Hi Lauren, sorry about your feet. How do you stretch your toes out with a broom? That's a new one for me. LOL
