I am doing a little research. Please particapate in my study. Question being. Do you have high cholesterol and what is your DX.

Also what meds are you taking for your high cholesterol and is your disease under control?

Thank you for your time.
Choles are normalnope..my cholesterol is greatNormal cholesterol and triglyceride levels here Any neurological problems?Hello!  I've got high cholesterol.  I have had it since I was about 28, not overweight, good diet, etc.  It gets worse constantly, but is not being treated yet.  I am just about at that point though.  I'm 33 now.  It makes me very worried.  I do take supplements for it, a few.  Hope this helps.  It does seems like the cholesterol levels increased at the same rate as my pain and RA problems.  That didn't make sense, but I am having a bad morning. Sorry! None here, that I know of. High cholesterol, bad valve, probs with inflamation of the vessels and arteries around the heart...started meds for cholesterol, on strict diet .

Exercise and eat right and take my meds til I get all my tests completed and the results back.

Can;t take Ra meds due to all this heart stuff.
mine's good.http://www.ninds.nih.gov/news_and_events/news_articles/news_article_old_drug_new_use.htm

Mine's good as well

My lipid profile is great. I'm overweight but eat a good diet. I do take fish oil and try to eat lots of oatmeal. My cholestrol is low, triglycerides practically non existant.........My HDL has always been good.  My LDL and triglycerides were starting to creep up (before RA, but after fibro dx and meds) and I agreed to take Zetia because I refuse to take statins (I have enough muscle pain already, thank you!).  The Zetia has helped slightly but not significantly.  I also take a plant stanol/sterol supplement called CholestOff (Nature Made brand).

Since the RA dx and meds (main ones are in my sig), my LDL has gotten slightly higher and my triglycerides have gone through the roof.  I'm considering dropping my birth control bills as that is easier for me to stop than my RA meds.  My RD mentioned possibly switching the Zetia to a fibrate, but I didn't catch the med name.  For some reason they forgot the lipid panel on my last monthly blood work, so I'll have to see how things are next month.
Well my cholesterol is certainly very high. Well it used to be i have to have it redone. I had a flare about five years ago and my liver enzymes where elevated at the time. They tested me for every disease that could cause liver issue and came up with the idea that i had a fatty liver. My liver enzymes did go back to normal.
I tryed a statin. It did not give me muscle problems. I was flaring at the time. No one exactly believed me that i was flaring at the time. Well my orthopedic surgen did believe me, but at the time everyone was so bent on convincing me it was just fibromyagia. I quit taking the statin because i had sweat pooring from my body.
I am rethinking this issue, because i sweat alot when i flare and was not so aware of that at the time.
My doctor asked me if i had any muscle side effects from the medicine. Which i would have thought honestly the answer would have been how could i have noticed that. I honest remember that i did not have any muscle problems from the meds.
So infact i am wondering if they may have even helped me with the muscle problems i had already had?
Statins are a scary thing to take. I currently take Omacor for high cholesterol. Concentrated fishoil fat.
My grandmother had quit taking her statins because someone told them they where bad for her and had to have emergency surgery for hardening of the ateries. So they do have place. I was told that i was at a place where i really needed them. I am just rethinking the issue. Then i was wondering if high cholesterol had  any link to neurological problems?
cholesterol  is 202 triglycerides are above 350. I Quit smoking and gp is having retested in 4 months. George19652008-06-22 16:00:05Good for you Goerge!!!! Wonderful news. Normal cholesterol and Triglycerides.  I have low cholesterol, but my triglycerides are high. I also have high blood pressure and tachycardia and am on Toprol for it.  I have more 'bad' cholesterol than the healthy range.  I was put on drugs to lower it a couple of years ago, then the neurologist put me on asprin after I had a small stroke (have no after-effects of the stroke, luckily).  Not on the drugs at the moment as I kept having vague side-effects, but will go back on them when I can.
I just found out a few weeks ago that mine is high. Can't remember the numbers. I go to pcp next month so I'm sure I'm in for a lecture about that and weight. My blood pressure is also high. I've been trying to eat healthy and take off the weight but it's not easy especially when you're not feeling well and don't want to cook. My mom who had open heart surgery last year is in better shape than I am with her labs. I have to get with it. I thought about eating cheerios.  I see the commercial where you can lower it in six weeks.
