Sunday Morning was just... | Arthritis Information

So, I went to sleep around 4am on Sunday morning. Stupid birds in our bedroom chimney kept me awake!! 4 little loud chirpping baby birds!

So... I wake up around 6am to the birds going nutso because Abi-Kitty found out the birds were in the chimney. I had to throw her outta my room.

But when I woke up to keep Abi-Kitty from getting the birds I realized the fingers on my right hand were still swollen and were stiff. I just figured my meds did not kick in yet. So... I went back to sleep to wake up an hour later having to pee. Then I noticed my knees were stiff and the fingers on my right hand were even more swollen.

I do not normally have morning stiffness, because I take my pred before I go to sleep. It helps the morning stiffness to not last as long. I get night stiffness, it starts around 6pm and gets worse until my next pred dose. BUT.... I have not been having that since starting the Remicade. Now, I have morning and night stiffness.

The Remicade has official wore off. I go for my next infusion July 10th. I hope I am not doing worse before then.

I just thought I would tell yall about the birdies and my fingers. It is hard for me to do much of anything that requires my right fingers. They just are not acting right.
Joonie, I thought you took some sort of sleeping pills.  Why do you stay up all night? My fingers are a bit annoeying this morning also. They had not bothered me for awhile.
I noticed last night that one looked swoollen. I woke up this morning and both hands where asleep.
They are just achey today. But i guess the are keeping my mind occupied. As i was tired of the constant ache in my knees. So something different I guess. I hope you hold out till your next infusion.
Joonie, you probably have to unlearn your bad sleeping habits.  It can be done.  It may be difficult at first, but I have faith that you can do it, and that you will begin to feel better and have more energy once you do. If I took my pred at night I would not sleep at all!  It might be a good idea to take it in the morning, or perhaps 1/2 in the morning & 1/2 in early evening?

Yeah, I tried Rozerm, but I could not get enough sleep. NO ONE would leave me alone long enough to fall asleep. It was either the phone, or one of them coming in my room, or the kids arguing and crying and then coming into my room to rat-fink on the other. So... I do not take them anymore.

I lay awake because hubby snores and it is hard to sleep when he is all over on my side of the bed and right in my face snoring! Sometimes he is not snoring, or sounding like he is not breathing, I lay there to see if he dead. Well, that is what I do!

The pred is not what keeps me awake. I lay down to go to sleep right after I take it, and most times can go to sleep. I just happened that, I could not go to sleep last night. I had pain and stiffness going on, so... could not get comfortable. Plus, it was hot in my room and the darn cat was knocking stuff into the floor. Which creeped me out for a while thinking someone was in the house.

It is a good thing I was still awake around 6am, because hubby would have not made it to work. The alarm went off this morning he let is beep for 5 mins! Then I got tired of hearing it beep and woke him up to turn it off. Then he turned it off, but was to hit the snooze. So... I have to wake him up and make him get ready. It is like when you wake up one of your kids for school and they just lay there and fall back to sleep, and then it gets to the point of you yelling at them and making threats. Yep... that is what I have to do to my hubby.

oh and sunday... I stayed awake so late, because I slept all day saturday. It is that time of the month, so sleeping was a must.

Now that I think about it, my increased stiffness could be from the ole "monthly bill". I normally associate increased fatigue to that, and not swelling and stiffness.

My husband is a major snorer too.  I sleep in another room.  In fact, he's finally going to go in for a sleep study, we have the preliminary appointment scheduled end of the month.

It seems like you have a lot of late nights though Joonie. You must be exhausted ALL the time.  I finally switched rooms when I just couldn't take it anymore.  I went forever never sleeping for more than 45 minute stretches before the soring woke me up again.  Then I'd lay there, nose pinching, nudging (which would get harder and harder each go around) in order to stop the noise to get maybe a one minute window in which to fall asleep before it would start up again.
Yup, twin beds & ear plugs..Love it!   I never wanted ear plugs cuz I'd feel "cut off".  I want to be able to wake up if I have to.
I never wanted ear plugs cuz I'd feel "cut off".  I want to be able to wake up if I have to.
Earplugs don't block all noise.  Trust me, you can still hear the alarm clock, or a crying infant.  You even hear the snoring, though it's not anywhere near loud enough to prevent a peaceful night's sleep.Hmmm.  Maybe I should cancel the sleep study??  I'm just kidding, actually we have a sleep apnea concern that needs to be checked out. I think their's a cpap in my husbands future.Joonie if your husband is stopping breathing while he's snoring then he has apnea and it is dangerous. It can wear his heart out. He probably isn't getting a restful sleep either. Haven't you said he falls asleep on the couch? My husband was/is a terrible snorer, I wore ear plugs, moved to another room, anything to get away from it. Then he started falling asleep when he was driving and there were these ads on the TV about sleep clinics, while he was snoring on the couch. He fell asleep at the wheel when he & I were going to town, I was barely able to get him awake before we went in the ditch. I had been telling him to go to a sleep clinic, but he just ignored me, so I said you will never drive the girls in the car again, until you get this checked out. He's had a C-PAP machine for at least 10 years, I love it, even though he looks like an alien in our bed. You would be doing yourself, but especially your husband a huge favor getting it checked out.Sometimes I don't mind being single. It is not that he stops breathing, he just gets quite, but still breathing. He snores the most when he is on his stomach or back. I just have this thing where I think people are going to die while they sleep. I check on my kids to make sure they are still breathing when they sleep. It is where hubby snores and snores, and then he is not snoring anymore, but he is still breathing. I know about sleep apnea, one of my sisters & brothers have sleep apnea. Plus, I read up on it a year or so back, for when I was doing my brother's website.

My hubby would not go to a sleep clinic. It is hard enough to get him to go for a yearly physical. Last physical I talked him into going to, was over 6 years ago. He has not been to a dr in 5 years.

I can't do the eye mask thing (I tend to wake up, forget I'm wearing it, and fear that I've gone blind), but earplugs are a godsend.

Edit to replace "blond" with "blind"

I fear waking up blond too... but for different reasons.  Last time I had blond hair I got pregnant
