Really informative article about hip pain.  I found it very helpful after I fractured my hip.

Thanks Lynn;
I was just about to ask if anyone knew what increasing groin pain meant.  I already knew but I just wanted confirmation.  Now I know.  Its exactly  as described.  Groin pain, radiating down the front of the thigh to the knee.  Textbook.  Classic. Sucks.
I don't dare say anything to the family, they will freak out.  I had hip surgery at the end of April, was hospitalised for 9 days in May for gastro related electrolyte imbalance and I have spinal surgery coming up in the next month or so.  My hubby is very stressed about the spinal fusion.  If he thinks this damn disease is progressing to my hip...... he is already suffering from his winter bout of Seasonal Affective Disorder, he doesn't need the extra stress.    I know I can't take it all on my own, but I hate burdening him with a constant barrage of disintigration.  Hopefully it will settle down eventually but with this cold damp winter only half way through, I'm not too optimistic.  I'm glad I'm only working 5 days a fortnight, my job is very easy and there is just enough sitting and moving around to keep me functioning.  On my days off I take it VERY easy (and sleep alot).   Every day I feel less and less guilty about my disabled tag on my car.  I'm going to have to start going to the heated pool for some exercise on my days off, but I'll have to admit it is a hassle especially in the winter.  It's not close by and it costs more than the regular pool, and the bother of going swimming in the winter!  I guess it's time for a lifestyle change.  I've been in denial I guess, thinking I could just go on doing what I do.  Oh well, I guess it just adds more ammunition to my rheumy's application for enbrel or humira when I see her next.  I guess I can add one more joint to my repertoire.
thanks again for the link  lynn
