I desperately need some input,

i have been plugging along,  reducing my mg of pred., got down to 7.5.  Had to have a surgical procedure on my back where anesthesia was required, the procedure was done and went well, ever since  I have been feeling like day one of pmr .  Dr upped my pred to 20 but i feel no better, weakness and extreme fatigue seemes to be the biggest complaint,  neck arms hips legs, all in  pain, shakie, cannot walk well at all.

Is this from the procedure, that the pmr has returned with a vengence,   i do not want to take 20 mg of pred, my fat face is just now starting to look normal,.

has anyone had this happen to them?  and if so how long will this last, should i continue to take the 20 mg?

any info greatly appreciated.                Georgiana

Georgiana;

Any surgery is certainly an attack on your system.  You might be having a relapse in your PMR along with residual pain from your surgery.  I get relapses with my PMR after I overdo exercise or simply sitting too long (on airplane flights).  I up my dose for 3-4 days and then go back to where I was before the relapse.  This usually works well.  You might have to stay at 20 for a bit longer since your body has to recover from your surgery.  I would even try a little more to see if it helps.  Let your body tell you how much pred you need.  When you finally get some relief at a certain dose, then you can start tapering.  I don't follow the doctor's instructions on how much pred to take, I take it according to how I feel.

Best wishes to you on your recovery, and take charge of your health care.
