Arava | Arthritis Information
Anyone experinece hair loss with this drug??..ive been on Methotrextate..then added Arava and my hair started thinning..i stopped the drug..and i have new regrowth??..Hello,
I took Arava for almost 2 years and it made my hair fall out by really bad. I had such thinning that you could see my scalp thru my hair.
I stopped taking the Arava, and then my hair started to grow back.
When I told my then RD about my concern of my thinning hair, she just added folic acid supplement, but it did not help with my hair loss.
I haven't been on Arava but have noticed my hair thinning.
Joonie, isn't that common as you get older? LOL
My hair line has receded and I have noticed the hair on my legs is less>which makes me happy cuz I always had lots of think dark black hair everywhere. Then I wake up and look in the mirror and notice all those leg hairs are now on my chin.

Welcome to the forum, cazzabren. I was on Arava for awhile but I had other bad side effects so didn't stay on it. I was going to say that I didn't think you could be on it with mtx at the same time, but decided to check and the first thing that popped up was this study saying that it's safe (http://www.hopkins-arthritis.org/arthritis-news/2002/mtx_leflunomide.html). If the mtx alone isn't working and the hair thinning with the Arava is too much, you might consider asking your doctor about Imuran which is another drug in the same class...maybe that will work better for you.
