Neck pain at night..OA ?? | Arthritis Information

Hello,

Ive had cracking & stiffness on the left side of my neck for almost a year now. Just in the last week, ive been waking up during the night with a lot of neck pain. Every day the pain is a little worse than the last. Ibuprofen helps, but I was wondering if this could be OA. I was reading a website that indicated that if the onset of pain was sudden, then most likely it wasn't OA. I also have a neck tremor on the same side & im not sure if it's related to OA, or if it's related to something else. HELP! hi Molly.............I have had neck problems for 4 years.....x-rayed as cervical spondylitis, I have found some relief using a special pillow I got at the pharmacy for those with neck problems....I have Osteoarthritis in my left knee,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,have done all the treatments from physiotherapy,,,, acupuncture, massage, tens, laser therapy, chiropractor, on predisone for a year,,,,,,,have tried it all    am 75 years old, only meds I take now is tylenol.           what seems to get me through each day is pain management,,,,resting, doing just what I can, housework, ironing etc.  I only pray that I will get relief from pain but seems I get discouraged as I have tried so many treatments etc.           Hopefully you find some relief, sorry I am unable to give u more support.         but keep your spirits up and when u have a bad day, remember you deserve to feel sorry for yourself......take care                   rosecrichton I use two pillows, one is like the one mentioned above. I'm getting a cortisone shot tomorrow which will drive my blood sugars nuts. I'm diabetic too.

I exercise three times a week and they have a bar for chining. If I hang down from that it feels wonderful. (for a couple minutes.)

good luck with your shot Jorgie......................guess we have to deal with what is given us.  there are good days as well as bad days.

I find pain management helps, lots of relaxation and meditation...............my last resort I guess after having tried everything else.           Pain is a pain in the ***** and all the other joints.....

however still pray for relieve                           take care                 rose crichton
Unfortunately the shot didn't do much good at all. I will probably go back to the Doctor next week and see what's next.

Molly, you need to make an appt. with your doctor.  It could be OA, disk, nerve, muscle and you need an examination and xrays or ctscan if it's not muscle.  Keep us posted on how you're doing.  Lindy
