Orencia Remission!!!!! | Arthritis Information

Good Morning All - After dealing with RA for 50 of my 56 years, and a recent, nasty, 2 year flare, I have finally achieved a "clinical remission", with an Orencia/Methotrexate combo!!!  Minimal pain/swelling, (mostly due to OA at this point), a bit more energy, normal sed rate, etc.  Oh, my antique hip replacements get rusty every now and then, but overall, I'm thrilled!!  After "failing" with both Humira and Enbrel, Orencia seems to be my lucky charm - of course it may not work forever, but as long as does, I am grateful for every single day.  I hope and pray the very same relief for all those who are suffering now...............

I had to giggle about this... I imagine your family, 100 years from now, with an antiques cabinet in the dining room.  Prominently featured amongst other relics of our time:  "antique hips"Dogman,

Congratulations!!  I am so very excited for you.....remission is such a FREE feeling and you sure deserve it!

(I go in for infusion #4 of Orencia today.....starting to feel some improvement.  How many infusions have you had?)

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!  ---Sharon
Congrats!  You sound like one tough cookie to go through all that! What wonderful news.  LindyThanks to everyone for the good wishes!!!  I guess this time, patience has paid off for me??!  Sharon - I started to notice a bit of improvement after 4 full months of Orencia, so hang in there a bit longer with it??  Let us know how you feel after your next infusion??  And JasmineRain, here's a "true confession" for ya!!:  my first total hip replacement came loose after just 6 weeks, and I had to have it redone.  Before surgery, I kiddingly asked my doc if I could have the old hip replacement??  (I know - crazy!!)  Soooo, I now own this funky looking hunk of titanium, AND, that first Christmas, my kooky husband tied a red ribbon around it, AND HUNG IT ON OUR TREE!!!! He just loved to horrify our guests and have them try to guess what it was!!!  (That was almost 25 years ago - it's still on our tree, but WAY in the back!!!)  RA does crazy things to us, doesn't it???!!

OMG what an awesome "heirloom" ornament to horrify generations to come!!! That beats my salt clay, hand crafted toilet seat and cover that my son made when he was 10 years old.  Which by the way I still hang on the tree.

Wow, I've never thought about asking for the old parts back.  I had a knee revision last year and for some sick reason, I'd love to have those old parts.  I do think it'll be soon when I'll have spare parts from a hip revision so I think I'll ask for them.  Thanks for the idea!
Good for you! After 50 years, you certainly deserve to feel better. I hope it lasts for a very long time!! WAY TO GO!!!!!!
So happy for you- ENJOY!!!!Wow, that's great news.  I'm so happy for you :)Wqw, that is awesome news! I love hearing that someone is in clinical remission because it gives the rest of us hope for the future. Enjoy it and I hope it lasts forever!!!!!!!

HooRay for you and Hope for All.
May your remission last forever.
Congratulations!!!!!

That is really great news!  I am so happy for you.  What are you going to do to celebrate?

I just finished my 4-month Orencia infusion about an hour ago.  I'm really hoping to follow in your footsteps...
Thank you.........thank each and every one of you for your good wishes!!  I've shared this info w/my husband and children of course, but probably won't say too much to others, as I'm not sure they can really appreciate how huge this is to me??  I really appreciate being able to share this with you folks who understand the significance.  Once again, I truly hope and pray for pain/symptom relief for all of us...........

[/QUOTE] I have been reading forums for quite a while looking for answers to my questions, and finally found hope with reading Dogmom's post, and got so excited I decided to join you guys on this forum.   I was diagnosed with ra some three years ago after my mum passed away and because I have had broncheictasis since childhood, my rheumatologist tells me I am complex, after no relief from other drugs, I have just had my 2nd infusion with Orencia and still no relief and was feeling down hearted until I read Dogmom and Sharon's post. Thankyou!!!!Hi Rockin Annie, Keep the hope going.  It took me 10 years to reach clinical remission.  Start and thread and tell everyone on the forum about yourself.  Welcome to the forum.  Lindy
