What is so unfortunate about this story, is that Enbrel may, indeed be a very effective and wonderful treatment for altzheimers and other diseases...but the fact that he failed to do conventional controlled studies, and patented his procedures so that others could not duplicate them for the purpose of controlled study, will probably keep this drug years and years away from possible FDA approval for the treatment of the disease. I can't tell if his motive is greed, or really to provide a greater good, but it "sounds" to me to be more the former, than the latter. The saddest thing is that the ones who pay the greatest price are those patients who would otherwise benefit from the treatment.
